12 Reasons To Be Excited For "Orphan Black: The Next Chapter" Straight From Tatiana Maslany

The series is set eight years after Orphan Black ended!

It has been two years since Orphan Black ended and we said goodbye to Sarah, Alison, Cosima, Helena, Rachel, and the rest of the clones.

Now, Clone Club is returning in a whole new way with a continuation audiobook series called Orphan Black: The Next Chapter, which is narrated by Tatiana Maslany.

To celebrate the upcoming release, Tatiana Maslany sat down with BuzzFeed to tell us what Orphan Black fans can expect from the new series.

1. First, Orphan Black: The Next Chapter is set eight years after the end of Orphan Black — Tatiana said the characters are "the same, yet so different."

She said it has been awesome getting to explore "other people's versions of Alison, Cosima, and the other clones."

2. As of right now, Tatiana thinks that Cosima has changed the most in the last eight years.

She elaborated, saying, "I think Cosima is in a really interesting place. We've always had this great insight into her, but now we get to hear her thoughts. We learn what she wants from her life."

3. Orphan Black: The Next Chapter will explore how Cosima and Delphine's "dynamic has shifted."

Tatiana continued, saying, "We sort of see where her and Delphine are at and how their dynamic might be limited in some ways, but also continuing to be a beautiful relationship."

4. New clones that were never seen on the show will show up in the audiobooks.

Vivi Valdez is the name of a new clone that we'll meet.

5. Not only is Tatiana voicing all of the clones, but she's lending her voice to other characters from the series, like Art, Donnie, Delphine, and Kira.

Tatiana said, "It's been great to explore the characters that I got to play off of for five years."

6. Basically, Tatiana had to learn how to switch between characters in a matter of seconds, which has been "its own challenge."

Tatiana said, "I'm having to switch between characters from one sentence to another and respond to myself as different characters. So, it's different than sitting in hair and makeup for two hours, and then spending the day as Alison. It's its own challenge. And it's really fun to do and requires a lot of imagination."

7. She joked that fans "might be disappointed that Evelyne [Brochu] isn't doing the voice" of Delphine.

Tatiana said it's been hard voicing Delphine, saying, "Even when Evelyne wasn't speaking with her own accent [on the show], she was doing some really interesting vocal work there. So, it's been fun to kind of steal from her a bit."

8. Tatiana has been involved with the project since the beginning and was excited to dive back into all of the old characters.

Tatiana revealed that, "The creators approached me with it back when I was in NYC doing a play. They pitched it to me and it sounded really exciting and really fun. It was a cool thing to get to really get back into a world that was a massive part of my life and my career for years."

9. Some of the clones were "tough" to get back into after two years — Tatiana listened to songs that helped her get into character during the original series.

10. Tatiana is still recording the audiobooks, however she hasn't seen a lot from Helena so far. 👀

She said, "I hope I get to see her. I want to know what's going on with that little guy."

11. The audiobook is written in a unique way where there isn't an omnipresent narrator, instead you're always in the head of a character.

Tatiana explained, "We're always seeing the situation through the eyes of a specific character. Like sometimes we're in Cosima's head even though it's not written in first person. We're inside of her head, so there are slight energetic and vocal shifts depending on the perspective."

12. And finally, Tatiana was excited to do this new series for the fans who were still "connected" to the series.

She elaborated, saying, "I was so excited to get to really remember those clones and get back to playing them, not just for myself, but for the fans as well."

The full season will be available for $9.99 through Sept. 19, and then the price goes up to $12.99.
