Mattel Just Dropped A Bunch Of Barbie Dolls Inspired By Greta Gerwig's "Barbie," So Here Are The Actors Vs. The Dolls

The upcoming Barbie movie, which marks the first time Barbie has been in a live-action movie, has now inspired a whole new line of Barbie and Ken dolls (and a dream house).

So, I think it goes without saying at this point that Barbie is the most highly anticipated film of the summer of 2023.

Directed by Greta Gerwig and written by Greta and Noah Baumbach, Barbie is set to follow Barbie (Margot Robbie) as she lives in Barbie Land with Ken (Ryan Gosling) and other Barbies and Kens. However, one day, Barbie decides to take a trip to the real world.

The film hasn't even been released yet but has already taken the internet by storm. Posters revealing the various Barbies and Kens went viral, the tagline for the movie created a new Twitter meme, and every single trailer gets people more and more excited.

Basically everything about the movie so far has been better than the last thing that was released, and now, Mattel just dropped a whole new line of Barbie and Ken dolls, and some houses and cars, inspired by the movie.

Which is honestly so exciting considering the attention to detail Greta, Margot, costume designer Jacqueline Durran, and the entire team who worked on Barbie put into honoring the legacy of Barbie — like, they literally re-created the first outfit Barbie wore when Mattel launched the toy in 1959.

So, here are a bunch of side-by-sides that show the Barbie movie actors (and sets) vs. the dolls they've now inspired:

First, here's Margot Robbie as Barbie in her pink gingham dress vs. the doll:

Here's Ryan Gosling as Ken in his pastel striped beach outfit vs. the doll:

Margot as Barbie in her hot pink western outfit vs. the new doll:

Ryan as Ken in the matching denim set vs. the new doll:

Here's Margot as Barbie in her gold disco jumpsuit vs. the doll:

Here's Simu Liu's Ken in the white and gold tracksuit vs. the doll:

Issa Rae as President Barbie vs. the doll she inspired:

America Ferrera as Gloria vs. the doll she inspired:

Here's a video of Margot, Issa, Simu, and American getting to see their dolls for the first time, which is just so wholesome:

There's also a Barbie fashion pack featuring outfits from the movie. First, here's Margot as Barbie in this blue and white ensemble vs. the doll's outfit:

Then, here's Margot as Barbie in this already iconic pink and white beach outfit vs. the doll's outfit:

Also, Barbie isn't Barbie without some amazing accessories. So, here's Barbie driving her pink corvette convertible vs. the new toy:

And here's Barbie's dream house from the movie vs. the dream house you can build IRL:

Also, just because I have always loved the packaging Barbies come in, here's what the box for Margot's Barbies looks like too:

Anyway, I love the attention to detail that went into Barbie and now the line of dolls that are inspired by the new movie.
