We Tried This Cotton Eyelash Extension Hack So You Don't Have To

Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's bits of cotton in her eyeball.

We all know that false eyelashes can be kind of a pain, so when we saw Huda Kattan's incredible video where she uses cotton to lengthen her lashes, we had to give it a try!

So how does it work? First you gotta load up your eyes with your favorite mascara.

Then you need to wrap a spoolie in the inner shreds of a cotton ball.

Finally, use that spoolie to brush your lashes with cotton. Repeat this process until your lashes hit the sky!

    Here are our results!

    Lara

Lara's thoughts: I did not think this trick would work, mainly because I couldn't get past the idea of putting a damn cotton ball on my eye. Once I started, I could tell it would make my lashes look longer...BUT AT WHAT COST? I got some cotton residue in my eye a couple of times and had to fish it out, but overall it was WAY easier than trying to put on fake eyelashes. I felt very fly afterward, but also a little uncomfortable because my lashes feel so much heavier than normal. But when I looked in the mirror, I no longer cared about the heaviness, because it looked too cool for school. I am lazy and I like beauty hacks that make things easier on me. So I give this an 8/10.

Would you recommend this? Honestly, I would. Especially for a big event. I think you just have to go into it knowing that you're going to find cotton on your face hours later and will be able to feel the product.

    Sheridan

Sheridan's thoughts: When I first saw Huda do it, I was like, naaaaaah. But it ended up working pretty well on Huda, so I thought it would be worth a shot — pain is beauty. But this was a no-go for me. Not sure if it's because of the mascara, my technique, or the fact that I was attempting to put cotton on my eyelids. And every time a small piece got into my eye I thought I was going to die. It did not feel great, you guys.

Would you recommend this? I probably wouldn't recommend this trick, just because it seems like you have to be really, really good at putting pieces of cotton on your eye. There's just too much room for error. I'll stick to mascara.

    Susan

Susan's thoughts: I usually don't fuck with my lashes because it's annoying taking off mascara at the end of the day. I had no idea what to think of this hack, but I have a lot of questions. Like, who comes up with this stuff? Who sits around and thinks, Hmm, Imma rub a cotton ball on my eyelashes just for the illusion of longer lashes? Who? Who???? This hack didn't make much of a difference, save for a longer lash here and there. I ended up with a bunch of tiny pieces of cotton in my eyes. They're still in there, sitting atop my contacts. I can feel them right now.

Would you recommend this? I do not recommend this.

Nina's thoughts: My eyelashes are on the longer side already, but I love the look of huge fake lashes. So I was down to try Huda's trick and get those Grinch finger extensions. I really, REALLY wanted this to work. I jammed that spoolie into my eyelashes over and over and over again. No lash went un-cottoned. And STILL, only a few lashes achieved that spidery look. I'm not picking cotton out of my eyeball for just a couple longer lashes. Also, the shreds get very sticky, so if one gets stuck in a bad place, it's difficult to pull it out without ruining all your hard work.

Would you recommend this? No. Not unless Huda is doing it for you. It's so much effort for minimal results. Use falsies. Your eyeballs will thank you later.
