    Sometimes leaving Australia feels like taking a trip to another planet.

    1. You need to translate yourself continuously

    2. Getting some weird lemon cordial when you clearly asked for lemonade

    3. The obsessive need to make everyone you meet try Vegemite

    4. You didn’t think you were a coffee snob until you drank it overseas

    5. You start saying g’day and mate for the hell of it, even when you don’t say them back home

    6. You constantly have to explain to people why you left Australia

    7. Saying you're from Sydney or Melbourne or "the other part" because it's easier to explain

    8. Telling the story about drop bears is actually kind of fun

    9. People will believe anything about Australia

    10. Rationing the survival packages of real food sent from friends or family

    11. 8 hours anywhere internationally is a short flight

    12. Visiting New Zealand doesn’t count as overseas

    13. Realising that our accents really do sound like Crocodile Dundee and deciding never to talk again

    14. Aussies are everywhere
