How To Stream Netflix In The Highest Definition Possible

Spoiler alert: you can't do it on Google Chrome.

So, season 3 of Orange Is the New Black was released one day early.

Since a Netflix marathon is most definitely in your future, here's a lil' pro tip.

    Thanks to Reddit user spudguy!

Netflix on Google Chrome only supports streaming up to 720p.

✨ If you use Safari or Internet Explorer, however, you can stream Netflix in true high definition, up to 1080p. ✨

    Internet Explorer of all things?!?!?!

It won't make much of a difference on your laptop – but if you're hooking up your screen to a TV display, 1080p streaming is so, so worth it.

You'll need to make sure that your internet connection supports streaming 5 megabits per second or more, before you can set your Netflix player to 1080p.

Make sure you check "Allow HD" in the video player and have your account's Playback Settings set to "High."

To get to Playback Settings, hover over your profile picture, click on Account Settings, and scroll down to Playback Settings.

Here's more information on Netflix resolution and supported browsers.

Orange you glad you still have Internet Explorer?
