22 Struggles Every Theme Park Employee Will Understand

    Welcome to hell.

    1. When you couldn't escape working the dreaded Grad Nite shifts.

    2. When you had to awkwardly explain to certain adults that they were too large to ride some of the attractions.

    3. When you had to work during the holidays and missed opening gifts with your family on Christmas morning.

    4. When you checked the ride vehicles and found a vomit surprise waiting for you in the seats.

    5. When 90 minute wait times meant you wouldn't be able to leave work until each guest made it through your attraction at the end of the night.

    6. When you had to invest in sanitizer bottles and clean everything you touched in hopes of not catching the flu when the park was busy...

    7. ... But you still managed to get sick during peak season and there was nothing you could do about it.

    8. When a massive tour group approached your ride and none of them spoke any English.

    9. When your foot got run over by a mobility scooter at least once a week.

Statistically, it's incredible that one member of my family wasn't killed by a mobility scooter during our time at Disney World.

    10. When people asked questions like, “Will I get wet on this water ride?”

    11. When a ride unexpectedly broke down and you were the first person guests blamed...

    12. ... And the same guests wouldn’t accept the fact you didn’t know how long it would take for the ride to become operational again.

    13. When guests jumped down your throat about rain-related ride closures.

    14. When a child didn't meet the height requirements for a ride and you had to deal with their hot-tempered parents.

    15. When you repeatedly dealt with insubordinate teenagers who tried cutting in line and ignored every word you said.

    16. When you were put on babysitting duty because yet another child got separated from their parents.

    17. When you worked outside in the summer and felt the wrath of the sun, coupled with the torturous humidity.

    18. Not to mention being forced to wear the thickest materials for your uniform.

    19. Yet your wardrobe was completely useless when it got cold and you'd nearly freeze to death in the winter.

    20. When you felt overwhelmed by some of your fanatical co-workers who took their job as an attractions attendant way too seriously.

    21. When you had at least one double-crosser on your team who would report to supervisors if you weren’t smiling enough when greeting guests.

    22. When you were intimidated by all your senior co-workers because they've worked at the theme park longer than you.

But despite all the countless struggles that came with working at a theme park, every day was still a thrilling new adventure.
