What can you do with some of your old stuff? Throwing these items away is wasteful and can be expensive. Instead lets reuse them in the landscape or in the garden! Here is a list of 5 items that can be reused as planters.
This is a great way to reuse tires. They have great drainage and can be painted different colors to help keep them from becoming an eyesore. Works great for vegetables or bedding plants. These planters will not need to be replaced for a very long time!
After a big party there are usually a few of these laying around in the morning, no problem! Just cut the top off and drill a few holes in the bottom and a few holes on the side for proper drainage. Then fill with media and insert your choice of plant. This works great for a container planting or for tomato/pepper production.
Why throw these to the curb when you can have a large planter instead? Simply cut 4 inch slits along the bottom of the pool and drill holes every 6 inches along the side.
Make sure to prop the planter up so it is not sitting flat on the ground (for drainage). These pools make great planters for herbs and vegetables.
When you are redoing your bathroom you tend to have a few items that need to find a new home. Bath tubs can be heavy and expensive to throw away, but they can also make amazing planters. There is no need to improve drainage by drilling holes because there is already one built in.
This is a simple way to reuse your old toilet. It can be used for annuals, perennials, herbs, and vegetables. Don't be afraid to decorate the toilet, the funnest part is to be creative!
