14 Actors Who Did Not Get Along, Despite Playing Best Friends In Movies And TV Shows

1. Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker, Sex and the City

Kim has long said that she had “never been friends” with the SATC girls, calling out Sarah Jessica herself numerous times throughout the years. SJP even replied to a question about the possibility of Kim joining And Just Like That  by saying, "I don’t think I would [be okay], because I think there’s just too much public history of feelings on her part that she’s shared."

2. Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley, The Vampire Diaries

Despite playing the on-and-off lovers turned friends, Nina said that she and Paul initially didn't get along. "I realize now that there's a fine line between love and hate, and we despised each other so much that it read as love," Nina previously explained. "We really just didn't get along for maybe the first five months of shooting." They have since joked about hating each other and now appear to be close friends.

3. Alex Pettyfer and Channing Tatum, Magic Mike

“Channing Tatum does not like me. For many reasons. Many being my own fault," Alex told the Hollywood Reporter in 2015. The reasons being: Alex's bad rep before the movie, his subsequent standoffish behavior on set, and the fact that he rented an apartment from one of Channing's friends and didn't pay four months' worth of rent.

4. Dominic Monaghan and Matthew Fox, Lost

In 2012, a fan asked Dominic to convince Matthew to join Twitter — to which he replied, "He beats women. No thanks.” Cue the fan asking about “all those good times” they had together, to which Dominic replied,  “How do you know we ever did? You don’t know either of us. He beats women. Not isolated incidents. Often. Not interested.” Matthew has denied the allegations.

5. Mark Harmon and Pauley Perrette, NCIS

Pauley reportedly left NCIS after Mark's dog bit a crew member, who subsequently needed stitches, and then kept bringing his dog to set. She later tweeted, "I too went to CBS, told about abuse by MH on set & I was asked THREE TIMES 'are you asking for money?' I was like 'Huh? No!' And I did NOT! I wanted me & my crew to be safe from him."

6. Rose McGowan and Alyssa Milano, Charmed

In a series of back-and-forth tweets, Rose said of Alyssa in 2020, "I cried every time we got renewed because you made that set toxic AF." Alyssa subsequently said, "It makes me really sad. Then I think, hurt people hurt people. I wish her well and I’ll leave it at that and hope that she heals."

7. Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel, the Fast and the Furious franchise

In 2016, the Rock made a cryptic Instagram post where he referred to certain "candy asses" on the Fast set. Vin then implied the post was about him when he subsequently said, "Honestly, give me a second and I will tell you everything. Everything." The two have said a lot about each other in the following years — including Vin publicly asking Dwayne to rejoin the franchise. 

8. Ashley Tisdale and Lucas Grabeel, High School Musical franchise

Despite playing the iconic brother-sister duo, Ashley and Lucas were initially far from close. “We were not good friends, let’s just be honest. It’s been 10 years… We can totally talk about this now. We hated each other," Ashley recalled in 2017, with Lucas noting the similarities between her and the character of Sharpay.

Betty said of Bea back in 2011, "Bea had a reserve. She was not fond of me. She found me a pain in the neck sometimes. Sometimes if I was happy, she'd be furious." Meanwhile, the casting director for the show said he once heard Bea call Betty a "fucking cunt," so there's that.

10. Naya Rivera and Lea Michele, Glee

In Naya's memoir, Sorry Not Sorry, she wrote of Lea, "It seemed like she blamed me for anything and everything that went wrong. If I'd complained about anyone or anything, she'd assumed I was bitching about her. Soon, she started to ignore me, and eventually, it got to the point where she didn't say a word to me for all of Season 6."

11. Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty, Beverly Hills, 90210

When Shannen was asked in 2019 what the worst fight she got into with Jennie was, she replied, "I can only remember one incident and that was when, yeah, we took it outside."

12. Isaiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey, Grey's Anatomy

Isaiah was fired from Grey's after he used an anti-gay slur during an argument with Patrick, which some on set have said was in reference to their costar, T.R. Knight (Isiah denied that this was the case). Last year, Isaiah called Patrick a "total tyrant" who "was not a nice guy from day one." 

13. William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, Star Trek

William and Leonard had a long and complex relationship, which began with them as rivals on the Star Trek set. William himself said in 2016 of the "clashes" in the early days of the show, "Nothing is ever one person’s fault — one hand clapping doesn’t make a sound."

14. Finally, Jamie Lynn Spears and Alexa Nikolas, Zoey 101

Alexa long accused Jamie Lynn of bullying on set, but things resurfaced after Jamie Lynn wrote that Alexa spread rumors about her being "mean and bitchy" in her memoir earlier this year. Alexa responded by saying that Jamie Lynn was "lying up a storm," which Britney Spears herself supported.
