For context, Sydney and Glen star in the upcoming rom-com Anyone But You, which Sydney is also executive producing. Photos of the two sparked intense rumors that the actors were engaging in an off-screen affair, heightened by Glen's then-girlfriend, Gigi Paris, appearing to end things with him amid the hubbub.
When asked by Variety about the online speculation in an interview published on Wednesday, she said with a laugh, “It’s a rom-com."
“That’s what people want! Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much; he’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker. We’re excited for the press tour, and I literally just left ADR with him. We talk all the time like, ‘That’s really funny,’” she said.
Indeed, on leaning into a media narrative, Sydney added, "They want it. It’s fun to give it to ’em.”
Director Will Gluck further said of the online speculation, “Sydney is brilliant at a lot of things, including how to deal with social media; she didn’t emotionally internalize it. It was crazy, but after a while, it became normal.”
As for the movie itself, Sydney said that it's in the vein of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days: "That early-2000s big blockbuster that people love to go to that made you feel good."
