11 Aussie Swimwear Trends That Will Be EVERYWHERE Come Spring

    We're seeing high-necked one pieces, leather-look sets and lots of body positivity.

    Miami Swim Week has just wrapped up and, let me say, it has got me feeling VERY POSITIVE about changes in the industry.

    The shows this year were diverse and inclusive, which is super important because Miami Swim is the fashion week that sets the tone not only for swim trends, but for how women around the world feel about their beach bodies.

    Some of our highlights? Seeing hijabi model, Halima Aden, opening the Sports Illustrated Swim show in a burkini, as well as Aussie curve model, La'Tecia Thomas, opening and closing the Aqua Blu show.

    These game-changing moments have got me, a curvy gal, feeling particularly inspired to live out my best #HotGirlSummer this year.

    Quite a few Aussie brands showed this year, debuting a tonne of new trends that we'll definitely be living in come springtime.

    Here are our 11 favourite trends that nine Aussie labels brought to Miami Swim Week 2019.

    1. High-waisted briefs

    The '80s are back, baby! The likes of TJ Swim and Lahana Swim heroed high-waisted briefs at the Fashion Palette show and we couldn't be more pleased. This cut is universally flattering and surf-friendly.

    2. Neon everything

    There's no question that neon is the palette of the season and, quite frankly, I think it looks good on every single skin tone.

    3. High-neck pieces

    Sōnya Swim / iMax Tree Images

    Arguably my favourite trend from this season. I am dying to get my hands on these incredible Sōnya Swim pieces ⁠— they are just so chic!

    4. Layered looks

    Between Aqua Blu's three-piece co-ords and Lil & Emm's sheer skirts, I am LOVING the flexibility of a full-swim look. They'll also make it easier to go from the beach to the bar (while sticking to the dress code).

    5. Tie dye sets

    VDM the Label is bringing back tie dye and I'm here for it. I would definitely rock the purple crop with a high-waisted white skirt to a Sunday session.

    6. Cut-out suits

    The one-piece remains a firm swimwear favourite, but this season, Sage Swim and Vincija Swim have changed things up with some cute cut-outs. They're both sexy and flattering — and definitely on my wish list.

    7. Nature-inspired prints

    Nothing says Aussie swimwear more than a killer print. I am frothing on these delicate florals from Aqua Blu and this cute lemon print by Sōnya Swim.

    8. Metallic suits

    The Fashion Palette show brought metallics back in a big way. This gorgeous gold one-piece from Lil & Emm is part Bond-girl, part Grecian-goddess, and I'm obsessed.

    Nookie Beach's metallic looks seem to be giving a nod to another classic Aussie brand: Glomesh. And I'm betting you'll literally ~glow~ when the sun hits you in these styles.

    9. Wet leather looks

    While the logical part of my mind is questioning whether this is practical, the fashion part is dying over how INCREDIBLE these Nookie Beach pieces looks.

    10. Long-sleeve tops

    I never thought I’d embrace long-sleeve swimwear, but these Aussie designers have proved it really does work. I'm loving Aqua Blu's elegant take on the trend, as well as the sports luxe vibes of Nookie Beach's version.

    11. And asymmetric straps

    The '00s were all about asymmetry and I'm living for this throwback. I'm especially loving how Lil & Emm have teamed it with neon yellow. So fun!
