Gypsy Rose Blanchard Has Become An Internet Sensation, And Here's How She Feels About It

"So, when I came out of prison, I didn't expect this giant wave of social media, you know?

Gypsy Rose Blanchard-Anderson has become a social media sensation, but she didn't necessarily ask for it.

On Dec. 28, Gypsy was released from prison early after serving seven years of her ten-year sentence for the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.

After enduring years of abuse from her mother, Gypsy and her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn were convicted of murdering Dee Dee in 2016.

Now free, Gypsy intends to use her experience as an advocate for Munchausen syndrome by proxy, but she's miraculously become an instant internet celebrity overnight.

Gypsy has gained massive attention on social media, already reaching 7.3 million followers on Instagram...

...and 7.7 million on TikTok in only a few days.

She's doing "Outfits of the Day" on TikTok, and the fans love it.

On Instagram, she's creating viral moments with her selfies and scenic photos.

    Gypsy you’re glowing

And she's posting racy comments about her husband, Ryan Anderson, rocking her world with his "fire D."

And, yes, Ryan responded with an even more racy comment.

Who said I gave a damn about what these jealous people say anyway now come get it baby

On top of all that, Gypsy's been on a full press tour featured on Entertainment Tonight, Good Morning America, and The View, resulting in this incredibly awkward moment with host Joy Behar.

But, realistically, Gypsy didn't ask for ask or expect all this attention. "I don't even comprehend it at this point because for me, I'm just another face in the crowd," Gypsy told ET before the premiere of the Lifetime docu-series The Prsion Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard.

The two with a group of people on the red carpet

"So, when I came out of prison, I didn't expect this giant wave of social media, you know? I'm posting selfies just like the next person would or the next person not thinking anything of it. And before [you know it] it has 2 million views. I'm just like, 'OK?!'"

The internet is going wild over Gypsy, but she's just trying to enjoy the moment and "having fun."

"I'm having fun with the selfies and the Snapchats and all this kind of stuff," Gypsy said. "I'm just having fun with it."

The fans are flooding her DMs, but if you're one of the many trying to slide in there, I hate to break it, but Gypsy isn't checking for you. "I haven't honestly checked my DMs," Gypsy said. "I'm flooded. I am so flooded right now. I just post and kind of let it be. I'm just like, 'Oh, that's a cute picture.'"

From the outside, it seems like this amount of attention could get out of hand for Gypsy, who spent most of her life in captivity, whether at the hands of her mother or prison. However, Gypsy said the integration hasn't created any problems so far.

"Honestly, I haven't had enough time to even have anything be difficult to integrate to," Gypsy said. "I've been on a very fast-paced track these last few days, and I'm just trying to take it day by day. The next step and the next step and the next step."

So, there you have it. GRB's goal is to use her new social media powers for good and have fun in the meantime.
