It’s #BacktotheFuture Day. Flying cars aside, here are five things black millennials probably wanted to see happen by now.

More people of color in sci-fi & fantasy films on the big screen.

Aside from a handful of films, the genre is still seriously lacking people of color--namely, black people--in lead roles. It kind of feels like film makers keep imagining kick-ass versions of the future that are glaringly void of black people. Bummer.

Robotic cops with the ability to police people of color fairly.

This might not be a bad idea since some human cops appear to be failing in this department and body cameras have proven ineffective. Uhh...perhaps there should be some oversight on who programs them, though.

Restoration of the same Voting Rights Act that scores of our grandparents fought like hell for.

Doesn't seem very futuristic-y, but the fact that the Voting Rights Act was gutted of its main section two years ago sets progress back even further than the debut of Back to the Future. You know what would be even better though? Living in a future where we really didn't need such an act.

While BTTF heads would've loved to be cruising around in gravity-defiant versions of Marty McFly's whip by now, but it seems there's still bigger fish to fry for black millennials. So until the world fixes crap like police brutality and the burning of black churches, maybe force fields are in order for the more melanin-rich humanoids.
