There was a time when I ABSOLUTELY LOATHED musicals.
I was young, stupid and too cool for school.
I liked acting. Straight acting. Pure drama.
But I still hated musicals.
Nevertheless, I went to college and decided to pursue a degree in Drama.
I came across the first musical that really spoke to me.
But still... I thought I was too cool for school.
Still, there was something about the singing...
...the dancing...
...and the acting...
...that began to lure me in.
When I finally saw my first Broadway musical...
MY MIND WAS BLOWN...
...and apparently everybody else's because that show went on to win some Tonys.
I LOVED MUSICALS AND I DIDN'T CARE WHO KNEW IT!
It was important for me to share this musical passion with everyone back home like my mom...
...and my old friends…
So I showed them everything...
Everything...
E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G
Some were indifferent...
Some were confused...
Some were downright disgusted.
I was frustrated by their inability to understand how amazing musicals were.
But at least I got ONE of my friends to like SOME of what I was showing...
...and that was good enough for me.
