And They’re Wearing Team Shirts- Not Capes

    By – Jeannine Miller (jmiller@mossbuildinganddesign.com)

It was one of those days when I couldn’t be more proud to represent Moss Building & Design home improvement company in Northern VA. Sunday morning, October 14th, Fairfax Corner in Fairfax VA was quite a sight. There were families everywhere dressed in team shirts, dogs wearing bandanas and there was that air of happiness you feel when a community comes together to do something good. Everyone was there for the 3rd Annual Northern Virginia CureSearch Walk, a fundraiser benefiting children’s cancer research.

Teams walked in memory of those who have lost their fight and in celebration of those who are in treatment or are survivors. To think that my friends, Jay and Lisa Vaughan (pictured at top), organized this event which raised over $125,000 is nothing short of astounding.

On behalf of Moss Building & Design, I provided several hundred water bottles for the crowd. (Big shout out to my husband, Phil, for taking care of all the heavy lifting involved with buying, transporting and unloading 1,500 bottles of water!) I also handed out our fun yellow Moss home remodeling hats. Kids love these things and it gave me such a kick to see all of them walking to honor other kids and wearing our hats.

There was also a silent auction, which had a ton of great stuff. Moss donated a Handyman For A Day to the auction, which was a very popular item for home improvement and handyman services in Northern VA. Lucky Melissa Binetti was the winner! She’ll hand over her honey-do list and we’ll knock it out for her.

I am so thankful Moss had the opportunity to participate in this fundraiser and help this worthy cause. We truly enjoy giving back to the community and look forward to sponsoring the CureSearch Walk again next year.
