Monica Confronted A Man Who Allegedly Put His Hands On A Woman During Her Show: "Are You Out Of Your Fucking Mind?"

    "We don't play like that."

    After noticing a disturbance during her show, Monica immediately took action to ensure everyone's safety.

    While performing at the Riverfront Music Festival in Detroit on Saturday, the "So Gone" singer stopped her show and jumped into the crowd after allegedly seeing a man strike a woman.

    A TikTok account called Crime in the D, which shares criminal activity happening in the Detroit, Michigan area, posted a video from the audience's point of view of Monica calling out the alleged physical assault.

    In the video you can hear Monica saying, "Don't you hit her like that! Listen, if y'all don't get him up out of here. We don't play like that. You don't hit no lady like that! Are you out of your fucking mind?"

    Before her security team could act, Monica leapt off the stage to confront the situation herself.

    Monica recently spoke with the Hollywood Reporter about the incident and explained why she decided to take matters into her own hands.

    “There was an altercation in the audience between a man and woman that I could tell from my viewpoint onstage," Monica told THR. "It was heating up as I was attempting to get security’s attention to ask them to de-escalate it, and unfortunately, they weren’t able to fully understand what I was asking them to do."

    “And I did everything I could after seeing him strike her to prevent her from being hit again. It was very triggering for me to see a woman be assaulted by a man. But I thank God that we were able to prevent it from going further than it did, and everyone made it home safe,” she continued.

    She reiterated that the only thing on her mind was to protect the woman. Monica also urged concertgoers to always be aware of their surroundings and act with grace.
