10 Questions Girl Gamers Are Still Tired Of Answering

It's been more than 30 years since Roberta Williams co-founded Sierra On-Line. Why are female gamers still being treated like unicorns? Whether you're a veteran or a newb, you've likely encountered at least a few of these questions... and you may be wondering if it's ever going to end. (Answer: Nope. Nope, it's not.)

1. "Wait... You're a GIRL? Seriously? Seriously?!"

Ohhhh, I get it now, you mean SERIOUSLY. Okay, seriously, no... I'm not a girl. I'm an alien, sent forth from an evil galactic empire to blow your mind. You caught me.

2. "Did your boyfriend get you into games?"

Of course he did. Obviously, because of this pesky vagina, I can't possibly have gotten into video games on my own. Girls can't think for themselves, silly!

3. "Wanna join our party? We need more girls in here."

So... being good doesn't really matter, as long as I have breasts? Got it.

4. "You are so awesome! Why aren't you my girlfriend?"

We've been playing together for fifteen minutes. The only thing you know about me is how quickly I can take down an orc with a longsword. Slow down there, sailor.

5. "Do guys treat you differently because you're a girl?"

Well, you're a guy... and you're treating me differently right now. By asking me this question. In the middle of a raid. So... yep.

6. "My girlfriend is _________. What's up with that?"

Is my username "LoveGuru1313"? Just because I'm female doesn't mean I have any idea who your girlfriend is or how she thinks. Maybe try... umm... talking to her?

7. "Are you hot? You sound hot."

I'm not so much hot as I am fighting the urge to punch you in your boy parts.

8. "Do you even know what FPS means?"

I won't even dignify this with sarcasm.

9. "You're pretty good for a girl, you know that?"

It's 2013. Unless you've been living in an underground bunker since the 60's (and your name is Adam Weber), you should be taking that back. Like right now.

10. "What games do you play? Please don't say Tetris."

STOP HATING ON TETRIS. YOU LOVE IT, TOO. QUIT LYING.

If you were alive in the late 80's/early 90's, regardless of your reproductive organs or social status, you played Tetris. Why this has become associated only with girls and clueless parents, I have no idea. Oh wait, yes I do. It's because of liiiiiiieeesss.

Girls who play video games are not new. We haven't been new for a while.
