We're already halfway through 2023, which means it's a perfect time to look back on the year so far. And when it comes to fashion, we've got a lot of reflecting to do.
I recently asked the BuzzFeed Community to share very "of-the-time" fashion trends that they can't stand seeing anymore. Here are some of the best responses:
Note: trends are a completely and totally made-up concept and something corporations manufacture for their own agendas. Every person I used as an example in this post looks incredible and is merely used as a visual aid, NOT for the purpose of ridicule.
1. "Claw clip ponytails."
2. "The whole Y2K trend that's been lurking for a while now but boomed in 2023. I cannot stand the low-rise capris and bedazzled skinny scarves. It was the one decade I'd always hoped would never make a comeback, but here we are. It can look good in pictures and TikToks — I even follow one or two Y2K girlies — but it's absolutely ridiculous when you see someone wearing flared jeans under a pink dress in public. Come on. I know we, as a society, can do better."
3. "Thin eyebrows suck. Sometimes it’s difficult to regenerate growth."
4. "Rat tails are making a comeback. 🤢"
5. "I'm from the South, and I do love me a country boy. But the new trend is bushy, mid-length hair underneath a trucker hat. I don't know what the hell is up with that, but it doesn't look good."
6. "Sheer everything."
7. "Cargo pants. Yes, as a woman, I asked for clothes with pockets, but this was sooooo not what I meant!"
8. "Tooth gems!! They make you look like you haven’t brushed, and they're a pain to remove."
9. "Tassels and feathers on everything (especially on floor-length dresses, like prom dresses). I don't know who decided that it would be cute to cover a skin-tight hot pink dress with hot pink feathers or who thought putting tassels on a literal ball gown would make it look prettier, but I despise them immensely."

15. "I have witnessed two accidents caused by those ridiculously chunky, platform, foam clog monstrosities. In one instance, a poor girl fell flat on her face when she tripped over her mom’s Minnie Mouse-looking feet simply by walking alongside her. Another time, I saw a tween walking with her legs wide apart so that her shoes wouldn’t rub against each other. It was a wet day, and the next thing you know, she fell."
16. "Flounced skirts. They look good on no one."
