When I was in middle school, we had to wear a specific uniform for gym class: a T-shirt with our mascot's picture, sneakers, and a pair of navy blue sweatpants. Even though we all dressed alike, there were marked differences that very clearly signified to everyone who was popular and who was not.
The cool kids had on straight or flared sweatpants — ones that fell a little bit over your sneakers. These were in stark contrast to the non-popular kids' tapered-leg sweatpants which tended to show a little bit of sock — something that was definitely not cool.
Fast-forward to 2023, and I wouldn't even know where to find flared sweatpants. Everyone's doing the tapered sweatpants look.
But that's just how fashion works; it's cyclical. If you hang on to your clothes long enough, eventually, something is bound to come back in style.
So, I wanna know a specific trend you've noticed that used to be kinda cringey but is now considered cool.
Maybe when you were a teenager, you shopped exclusively at Hot Topic and you were called strange for wearing alternative clothes. And now, that's just how kids dress.
Or, perhaps you've noticed that in the past, people would always get shit for wearing Crocs, and now, everyone, of any age, wears them.
Or, maybe you used to get roasted for wearing rimless glasses or any of those frames that had small, round lenses. And now, it's exclusively what Bella Hadid wears.
