10 Reasons To Study Abroad In Chile

I studied in Viña del Mar, Chile with AIFS. You should try it sometime.

1. The {fact that it's not Europe}

Everyone goes to Europe. Do you know how many cheesy Eiffel Tower pictures are floating around the internet from study abroaders? A billion. Do you know how many cheesy pics there are with mother Mary on Cerro San Cristóbal? I count one.

2. The {People}

Chileans are the best kind of people. They can be cold and distant at first, which may come off as a bad thing but at least they're not fake. Once they get to know you, they are the most supportive, funny, caring individuals on the planet. And like, look at how good looking they are.

3. The {Wildlife}

By the wildlife I mean the street dogs. They're everywhere and they have beautiful souls.

4. The {Nature}

Beaches. Deserts. Canyons. Mountains. Unlimited exploring opportunities, from sandboarding to snowboarding to surfboarding.

5. The {Spanish}

Barcelona is probably a really fun city, like if you're trying to only remember 40% of your time abroad, or if you're trying to learn a language that like three cities in the entire world speak. If you're trying to learn practical Spanish, America del Sur is the way to go.

Watch out for Chilenismos, which is a fun twist on real Spanish.

7. The {Other Views}

Whether it's the Santiago skyline, the coastline of Viña del Mar, the view from the top of a volcano, or the roofs of houses from the hills of Valparaíso, Chile has no shortage of beautiful views.

8. The {Food}

This is an empanada filled with creamy cheese and shrimp. Chile is famous for these mouthwatering pieces of heaven. They also have a surprising amount of sushi places, and the weirdest, most delicious hot dogs in the world.

9. The {Friendships}

I know that's cheesy because I'm sure you'll make friends in whatever country you choose to travel to. But I super-love these people, and I'm giving Chile credit for bringing them into my life.

10. The {Travel Opportunities}

Aside from the beautiful sights and attractions that Chile brings to the table, there are also endless travel opportunities to nearby places such as Machu Picchu, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, etc. Just a hop, skip, and a plane ride away!
