Intelligent, playful, creative, and prone to sexual harassment. Dolphin Managers clearly showed enough promise (or received enough training) to get to where they are, but at heart, they just want to play. They are all about having a socially active office, and sometimes can get a little too friendly with members of the team, but they are just so gosh-darn fun-loving and charming, they never seem to get into trouble. Much like dolphins, with the proper motivation they can really pull it together and perform, but they are also prone to boredom, distraction, and outbursts of rage and frustration. If you can put up with their advances and keep their favorite snacks stockpiled, you should be able to get along just fine.

Dolphin

Not only is your manager intelligent, he/she is emotionally intelligent. This makes them great team players, thoughtful leaders, and compassionate coworkers. Your manager deals effectively with individuals as well as the group as a whole, and understands that a team that takes care of each other is a team that accomplishes more, much like elephant family pods. Your manager can also be surprisingly, distressingly sensitive—to the point of falling apart when things don’t go well. If you can ride the highs and lows of your manager’s stress threshold (do not approach when angry) you should be in good company.

Elephant

Your manager is a motivated, super-intelligent, get-shit-done kind of manager. Like the raven, your manager is an expert problem-solver, is great with tools and technology, and excels at recognizing patterns and finding more efficient ways to do things. Unfortunately, your manager is also not above using and/or manipulating people, and can treat others like they, too, are just problems to be solved. Intellect may be in great supply, but compassion, or social skills in general, are lacking, making your manager both rewarding and challenging to work with.

Raven

Your manager is dumb as shit, stubborn, and obnoxious, but admittedly a hard worker. Sometimes, promotions are less a result of merit and skill, and more a result of sheer, brute labor. In the right environment (and with lots of oversight), your manager can get a surprising amount done, and even help you with your work at the same time. But when it comes to problem-solving, your manager is about as useful as a rock. Fortunately, your manager’s work ethic can actually make you look good by association, so try to keep up until you get the chance to head to greener pastures—or your boss burns out and gets turned to glue.

Jackass

Your manager is incredibly endearing, but lacks any semblance of productivity or usefulness. Your manager probably should have gone extinct years ago, but through some combination of pity, fascination, and misplaced loyalty, has managed to stick around long after its natural cycle ended. From outdated ways of thinking, to general laziness, your manager is more of a figure of fascination than authority. Despite conventional wisdom telling us that employers are looking to hire workers with modern skills and the will to take on complex problems, this manager has managed to coast by on sheer charm. You do effectively all the real work, while your manager gets all the attention, apparently just for being there. Inexplicably popular, your manager has found the secret to survival against all odds: make the right people like you, then sit on your ass all day and enjoy an unearned all-you-can-eat bamboo buffet.
