Occasion: Bridal Shower

Raid your kitchen cabinets and pull out every glass in which you'd serve an alcoholic beverage - martini glasses, wine glasses, champagne flutes, etc. We know you drink wine from that Snoopy mug but it's okay to leave it out this time.

No luck? Try your mother's or grandmother's cupboards as older dishes tend to be more ornate with cool textures!

Assemble all clear glasses (vary them by height and style) on a silver platter and fill them with colorful pieces of jewelry. Ask the other bridesmaids to bring accessories or stop at a local thrift shop to find some eclectic pieces.

Occasion: Book Club

Everyone knows that Book Club is actually about the apps and recapping the latest episode of Scandal but when it's your turn to host, you might as well play into the idea.

Dust off some of your older books (preferably ones covered in brown paper - you know, those "antique-y" looking ones) and stack them in a neat pile. Get creative and add an empty tea cup, a pair of old reading glasses, or a short vase with flowers to get all "Jane Eyre" on your guests.

Take a bucket (a plastic one from the beach will work) and fill it with white sand!

Don't have sand just lying around? Try rice, or rocks ... or anything that will weigh the bucket down. Then, add the main attraction - three to five large multi-colored lollipops. The swirly kind. Think Wizard of Oz.

Just make sure you have enough lollipops for every partygoer to take home.

Occasion: Work Christmas Party

The party planning committee may only get $100 but that doesn't mean you can't throw one heck of an after-five rager with a fun focal point on every table.

Scrounge up a variety of large clear vases (like fish bowls) and fill them with an assortment of metallic ornaments. Red and green may be the official color scheme of the season but try ornaments that are orange, pink, purple and blue! The bright colors will help the room *cough, cafeteria, cough* pop and create a cheerful atmosphere.
