Have you ever been so desensitized to violence that it doesn't even matter what you see on the news anymore? In this day and age, we hear about gun violence left and right. Every couple of weeks, it's a new shooting and another tragedy unfolds.
Why has it taken America so damn long to make any sort of headway on this issue? I get that the NRA and the Republican party has a lot of money to buy politics, but surely by now, they must realize that this can't continue on any further. Our system right now is not working. Anyone with some money can buy access to weapons of mass destruction. That's just not right.
I fully support Senator Kaine in taking action and finally working on passing a bill for gun reform. Suspects on the no fly list and anybody with previous violent behavior would be barred from purchasing guns. Odd, but shouldn't that have been the stance in the first place? Though I guess our forefathers were more concerned with just being able to hold arms against the British. And yet the NRA still parades around like we haven't changed as a society since 1791.
