This is not an ad so don't even try me, but I fucking love Spotify. It's what I use for all my music listening and yeah, it works for me. SO SUE ME. I like it a lot.
One of my favorite things about Spotify are the custom playlists it generates for you every week.
Discover Weekly, which is a custom playlist of songs Spotify thinks you will like is great, but my problem with it is that sometimes it puts random-ass Hoku b-sides from 2000 on it that are... awful (no offense).
I also love new music. New Music Friday, a playlist created by Spotify of random new music, has become almost a religious event for me. I literally wake up on Fridays excited to see what's on it.
But New Music Friday includes literally ALL new music, so it can be kind of all over the place. I don't particularly care about the new Toby Keith record (no offense.)
That's where Release Radar comes in.
The other week, a friend of mine (who shall remain nameless because of drama), introduced me to something called Release Radar.
Release Radar is a customized playlist created by Spotify with ONLY new releases they think you will like on it.
So think of it as a New Music Friday playlist tailored just for you.
I've only known about it for a few weeks but my Release Radar playlist has already become my favorite playlist. I have discovered many hot jams because of it.
Moral of the story: Release Radar is a great way to discover new music you will like. I just love it. End of story.
