According to the Orlando Sentinel, Gino Covacci found the eyeball during his morning walk on the beach. He said:
“It was very, very fresh. It was still bleeding when I put it in the plastic bag.”
Scientists believe it could be sword fish or a giant squid, but they aren’t really sure. The eyeball is being preserved and sent to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute in St. Petersburg to be examined.
