Americans do some things the rest of the world doesn't understand.
Yes, Halloween is a big deal.
And yeah, sometimes my mom calls it "Tar-jay" because she thinks she's being edgy or funny or something.
But there's one food in particular that baffles everyone in the world.
I'm talking about peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
It confuses the hell out of people.
If you didn't know, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are a full-fledged American thing.
It's literally American culture.
Like, you know when people say the expression "as American as apple pie"? You could say the same for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Some people around the world are disgusted by them.
Other people have seen the light.
But mostly, people are just surprised and intrigued that Americans actually eat them.
Part of the confusion could be due to the use of the word "jelly" to describe "jam."
In the UK, "jelly" is like American "jello." For them, "jelly" is only referred to as "jam."
So some British people think Americans put jello on sandwiches.
No, we don't put jello on sandwiches!! That's crazy!!
As a full-fledged lover of PB&J, I have to disagree with the sandwich slander.
Yes, it's an acceptable meal.
Now, excuse me while I go make myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich because THEY ARE DELICIOUS.
