Just 56 Iconic Movies Every Early 2000s Kid Used To Watch On Repeat

It's time we talk about Osmosis Jones.

If you were born in the mid-late '90s like me, you grew up with the best of the '90s and early 2000s movies. Here are the ones you watched on repeat as a kid and almost forgot about:

1. Agent Cody Banks

Milennial icons Frankie Muniz and Hilary Duff starred in the teen version of Mission Impossible, and it's frankly a crime that we didn't get more of these.

2. Clockstoppers

Don't you just love it when it falls to a literal teenager to save the world from a complete ruin, all because a time-stopping watch fell into his backpack?

3. Dinosaur

The decision to have the dinosaurs talk after making them look as photorealistic as possible makes me think Disney wanted to find the middle ground between their typical animated movies and Jurassic Park. The results were...interesting.

4. Spy Kids

I hope you didn't forget Spy Kids, because it's literally a perfect movie with a bit of everything. 

5. The Thirteenth Year

The Thirteenth Year is responsible for thousands of children believing that they might turn into mermaids at 13. We were all disappointed.

6. Stepsister from Planet Weird

You might have forgotten this movie, but there's no way you could forget that half of the characters were actually aliens whose true from was...bubbles.

7. Big Fat Liar

Big Fat Liar took The Boy Who Cried Wolf story to a whole new level.

8. Cats & Dogs

2001's epic spy adventure Cats & Dogs gave us the ultimate showdown between canines and felines.

9. Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron

I remember this movie for the killer soundtrack by Bryan Adams and Hans Zimmer. Also, did anyone else not realize that MATT DAMON is the voice of Spirit???

10. Shark Tale

Will Smith as a fish, Robert De Niro as a mob leader shark...this movie is seriously underrated, IMHO.

11. Barnyard

Paramount Pictures & Nickelodeon Movies

This 2006 flick got lukewarm reviews, but that didn't stop me from watching it every time it aired on Nickelodeon.

12. Madeline

Madeline made me terrified of getting my appendix out and getting kidnapped, but I still remember loving it.

13. Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius

Paramount Pictures & Nickelodeon Movies

The premise of this movie — a bunch of kids rescuing their parents from chicken-obsessed egg aliens — could easily have made it a flop, but Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius was awesome and lead to an equally amazing TV show.

14. Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders

This movie featured an adorable love song from Shaggy and a huge twist at the end.

15. Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase

Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase included an epic meeting between the Mystery Gang of 2001 and the Mystery Gang of the '70s.

16. Stuart Little

Michael J. Fox voiced Stuart Little in this adorable family flick.

17. Kim Possible: A Stitch in Time

In the first of three TV movies based on Kim Possible, Kim and Ron must travel through time to stop villains from wreaking havoc on the future. I'd always thought it was weird that the TV show relegated Shego to the sidekick position given that she was the smartest villain, but this movie showed what she was capable of as the main bad guy.

18. The Land Before Time movies

There were THIRTEEN Land Before Time movies released between 1988 and 2007 (and a fourteenth released in 2016). How many can you remember?

19. Balto

Universal Pictures

This animated adventure was inspired by the 1925 Serum Run to Nome, where twenty teams of sled dogs had to mush through brutal conditions to deliver medicine to Nome, Alaska during a diphtheria epidemic.

20. Minutemen

Disney Channel

This is one of my favorite Disney Channel Original Movies. Minutemen tells the story of three teenagers who go back in time to help their fellow students get through high school, which leads to some unintended consequences.

21. The Swan Princess

New Line Cinema

Not all great princess movies are from Disney, as fans of The Swan Princess well know. This movie is full of fun, and "Far Longer Than Forever" is a beautiful love song.

22. Sky High

This was an incredible standalone superhero film by Disney with great characters, a fun, unique plot, and an unexpected twist.

23. Up, Up and Away

In 2000, years before Sky High or The Incredibles hit the big screen, Disney released the TV movie Up, Up and Away on Disney Channel. The film may seem corny and low-budget by today's standards, but it was groundbreaking at the time for featuring a family of Black superheroes.

24. FernGully: The Last Rainforest

20th Century Fox

A group of fairies struggles to protect their home from deforestation and pollution. This was the film that taught '90s and early 2000s kids to care about the environment.

25. The Luck of The Irish

Disney Channel

Disney Channel played this movie once a year, every year, on St. Patrick's Day, and honestly, I can't think of any other kid-friendly St. Patrick's Day movies they could've played instead.

26. Twitches

Disney Channel

Twitches and its sequel, Twitches Too, were two of the best Disney Channel Original Movies of the 2000s, and they're always worth a rewatch around Halloween.

27. The Beethoven movies

Who else remembers Beethoven's 5th? Anybody? There have been eight Beethoven movies in total, the most popular being the first and second films. However, it's Beethoven's 5th, where Beethoven and friends discover a clue to buried treasure, that I remember most clearly.

28. Honey, I Shrunk the Kids

Okay, this one came out in '89, but hopefully you got to see when it aired on Cartoon Network.

29. 101 Dalmatians

Glenn Close absolutely nailed Cruella de Vil in the live-action 101 Dalmatians and its sequel, 102 Dalmatians.

30. Cow Belles

Cow Belles was a goofy Disney Channel Original Movie about spoiled sisters (Alyson Michalka and Amanda Michalka) who are sent to work on their family's dairy farm.

31. A Series of Unfortunate Events

2004's A Series of Unfortunate Events showcased Jim Carrey at his finest (and creepiest).

32. James and the Giant Peach

With a combination of live-action and stop motion animation, James and the Giant Peach perfectly captured all of the weirdness and wonder of Roald Dahl's beloved book.

33. Matilda

Sony Pictures Releasing

Speaking of Roald Dahl, this incredible adaptation of Matilda came out in 1996, the same year as the James and the Giant Peach movie. The cake scene may have scarred me for life, but otherwise Matilda is great.

34. Pokémon: The First Movie

Pikachu cried; I cried. This film was remade with CGI last year but I just feel like, if it's not broke, don't fix it.

35. The Iron Giant

A boy befriends a giant robot that the government sees as a threat. The result is a heartwrenching tale about friendship and understanding. "You are who you choose to be."

36. Ice Princess

Ice Princess was a unique take on the familiar storyline of being caught between your family's expectations and pursuing your dreams.

37. Happy Feet

Happy Feet is surprisingly deep and has gorgeous animation and great music.

38. The Scary Godmother movies

The two Scary Godmother movies, based on the books by Jill Thompson, were a must-watch every Halloween on Cartoon Network when I was growing up. Fun fact: if you head to Comic-Con you may see Jill at a table piled high with Scary Godmother merch.

39. Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer

Who would've thought that a children's movie based on a silly Christmas song would become a holiday classic? I don't know if they still play this on Cartoon Network, but I hope today's kids are still enjoying it.

40. Rugrats Go Wild

There are plenty of TV crossover episodes, but rarely do two TV shows get a theatrical movie crossover. That was the case for Rugrats Go Wild, the 2003 team up of Rugrats and The Wild Thornberrys.

41. Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker

The original, uncut version of Return of the Joker terrified me as a kid, but I still watched it over and over again because it was SO good. Seriously, if you don't remember this one, it's worth rewatching.

42. The Lion King II: Simba's Pride

The Lion King sequel may not have been groundbreaking like the original, but it was still a great movie with some amazing characters and songs.

43. The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea

Another almost-forgotten sequel, The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea introduced us to Ariel's daughter Melody. It's been twenty years since this movie came out, and Ariel is still the only Disney princess to have a child.

44. Dinosaur

Dinosaur may not impress today's kids, but in 2000, audiences were wowed by the realistic animation.

45. Osmosis Jones

Combining live-action and animation, this movie tells the story of a white blood cell cop named Osmosis Jones (voiced by Chris Rock) who must stop a virus from killing his human, Frank (Bill Murray). The live-action scenes were meh, but the animated parts were pretty cool and inspired the spin-off TV show Ozzy & Drix.

46. Ice Age

20th Century Fox

There have been five of these movies now, but none of the sequels have come close to the fun, goofy, heartfelt spirit of the first Ice Age.

47. Chicken Little

"THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!" Do you hear that in Chicken Little's voice? People seem to have strong opinions on this one, some saying it's awful or just too weird, but I enjoyed it as a kid.

48. The Game Plan

The Game Plan, starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, is a sweet family movie about a cocky quarterback who learns to love and take care of a daughter he didn't know he had.

49. Codename Kids Next Door: Operation Z.E.R.O.

Cartoon Network

In this TV movie based on Codename: Kids Next Door, the KND must find the legendary Numbuh Zero to stop Grandfather from turning everyone in the world into senior citi-zombies and forcing them to work in a tapioca factory. Despite the looney plotline, this movie had enough of an emotional punch to make me cry when I first saw it.

50. Underdog

What I remember most vividly about Underdog aren't the protagonists, but the scary and goofy villains played by Peter Dinklage and Patrick Warburton.

51. Treasure Planet

Disney's Treasure Planet bombed at the box office when it came out in 2002, but it's much better than its profits suggest. It's fun and adventurous, both for the characters and the creators, who took a bold risk in adapting a novel from 1883 into a space opera. If you don't remember this one, I'd highly recommend watching it again.

52. The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl

Just three years before staring in Twilight, Taylor Lautner played Sharkboy in The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl. This was the first 3D movie I ever saw. Everyone remember those red and blue 3D glasses?

53. Catch That Kid

Speaking of Twilight alumni, Kristen Stewart starred in Catch That Kid in 2004. She played a girl named Maddy who tries to rob a bank to pay for her father's experimental surgery.

54. Robots

20th Century Fox

Robots was inventive and funny with stellar voice acting from Ewan McGregor, Halle Berry, Amanda Bynes, and the late Robin Williams.

55. The Wild

No one would blame you if you'd forgotten this one. This Disney movie felt like a bad knockoff of Madagascar and came out just one year later.

56. And finally, Bedtime Stories

I WILL blame you if you forgot Bedtime Stories. I LOVED this movie as a kid and watched it a dozen times. Bedtime Stories is super imaginative, endearing, and heartwarming.
