Do Witches Age?

A question for the ages and, lets face it, the main reason anyone gets involved in the occult.

Willow Rosenburg (Buffy The Vampire Slayer)

Redheaded nerd turned witch Willow was played by Alyson Hannigan (more recently of How I Met Your Mother fame). Her magic was a natural gift that manifested during high school and came to a head late in the series with her attempt to destroy the world with dark magic. We imagine this takes its toll on the complexion, but her karma was balanced out by an earlier act for the good of mankind - the first girl-girl kiss on primetime network TV with girlfriend and fellow witch Tara.

Tara Maclay (Buffy The Vampire Slayer)

Tara was the shy new addition to the Scooby Gang when the girls hit college. Despite being initially convinced that she was a demon, Tara was quickly adopted into the fold and formed a relationship with Willow (see "first girl-girl kiss on network TV" mentioned above). We all know how love makes the skin glow but unfortunately, Tara was killed off in season 6 before we got to see any major Buffy-era style transformations.

Sabrina Spellman (Sabrina The Teenage Witch)

Luckily for the viewers, carrying her own TV show didn't give the teen witch any early wrinkles. Surrounded by friends and family (not to mention a talking cat to keep her company on the quiet nights in) Sabrina was the epitome of the good witch - young, blond and able to avoid traffic on her own flying broomstick.

Pru, Piper, Pheobe & Paige (Charmed)

These sisters had natural gifts passed down through the family as though they were good cheekbones. They had to fight to find a balance between saving the world and holding down day jobs, but eventually they were rewarded with happy love lives, adorable children and the chance to finally lie in and get their beauty sleep.

Nancy, Bonnie, Rochelle & Sarah (The Craft)

More high school witches, 3 of these 4 girls felt karma's bitch slap after they turned on Sarah for leaving the Coven. Nancy was commited to a mental asylum ("I can fly..."), Bonnie saw visions of her scars returning and Rochelle imagined that her hair was falling out. Sarah remained relatively unscathed (excepting the "house full of snakes" incident) and we can only assume from the others' healthy complexions that they gave up bell, book and candle in favour of cleanse, tone and moisturise.

The Sanderson Sisters (Hocus Pocus)

These sisters had the ultimate quick-fix beauty tip - sucking the life force out of children to keep themselves young! Not quite as easy or accessible as Max Factor, which might mean they'll be showing their age if they can't get their hands on some youngsters.

Whether you practice good magic or bad, the advice for age-conscious witches seems to be the same - take sexy photos while you're young, just in case the dark arts can't hold up against the laws of gravity.
