I'm a self-professed Batman fan, though I haven't read the comics. Nevertheless, I have watched the Dark Knight in action in the Warner Brothers' Batman: The Animated Series back in the 90s.
Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy ended with a bang with The Dark Knight Rises, which started showing in theaters last week here in the Philippines. Comparing it to the 1989 Batman film by Tim Burton and its sequel, Batman Returns, I can say that while Tim Burton's Batman films have captivated the audience for its grit, Nolan's Batman trilogy somehow brought the Batman movie franchise back. Nolan used a realistic storytelling approach which presented the Caped Crusader as the legend we’ve always known.
This artwork I made in Adobe Photoshop was based on the teaser posters for The Dark Knight Rises, following their dull brown color scheme and rain motif. The Batman's image used in the artwork was from old studio photos for The Dark Knight, repainted using Photoshop's Brush Tool.
The shapes that make up Batman's suit had been retraced using the Pen Tool, blurred out for shading purposes, and then sharpened them all together afterwards.
The rain effect was achieved using the combination of the filters Graphic Pen and Motion Blur.
Finally, I added the logo of Nolan's Batman series, and the word "RISE" –one of the main themes of the The Dark Knight Rises.Anyway, the artwork is free for download as wallpapers for desktops, for iPhones and for iPads! Check the wallpaper sizes below to see which size fits your screen.
