This Makeup Artist Turned A White Woman Into A Black Woman And Everyone's Mad

Well, if it looks, smells, and tastes like blackface, it's probably blackface.

The Instagram account @paintdatface recently posted this makeup look transforming a white woman into a black woman.

Along with the image, the makeup artist included a "disclaimer", stating that the look wasn't about "a race change" but rather about celebrating other cultures.

Following backlash, @paintdatface made their Instagram private, but not before Twitter got ahold of the post and collected the receipts.

Most people were disgusted by the literal blackface going on.

@tea_bing @rihonardo 1) it's blackface 2) black women are not fun costumes you can try on 3) the artist should haveโ€ฆ https://t.co/ZkE5KHFDU2

๐Ÿ“žHello Paintdatface ..... WOC called and we want our MELANIN back ๐Ÿ˜ก #appropration #blackface #BlackGirlsAreMagicโ€ฆ https://t.co/ffl43V64FL

@_zolarmoon Blackface by any other name is still blackface ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฟโ€โ™€๏ธ

If u gotta give a disclaimer you knew it was wrong to begin wit. Dumb ass bitch...coulda just got a ethnic model..tโ€ฆ https://t.co/WfGnPtHz3R

While others tried to defend @paintdatface, by claiming it was done in the name of art.

@ArtsyPoet @rihonardo @NalediMashishi Because that's not the point. The point he said was to see what makeup can do.

@_zolarmoon @emgleffler But when a white woman uses tanning lotion and gets really dark it's okay. Think of her asโ€ฆ https://t.co/PWCZcXJ5G9

Though people were really just not having it.

@IVGuerraFelix @ArtsyPoet @rihonardo @NalediMashishi It is blackface under the guise of art. It needs to stop. Youโ€ฆ https://t.co/xm9gORdMBT

A tan isn't black face Sara. Just sit this one out mk? Thanks. https://t.co/UjfZydwmbi

But tbh, almost everyone was just wondering why the makeup artist didn't use a black model to celebrate black culture.

@rihonardo If you trying to celebrate black culture, why the fUcK WOulD yOu UsE a WhIte moDeL !?!

@rihonardo Then why didn't they just........use a POC......

@rihonardo @NalediMashishi Why didn't he just use a black person? Why did he have to turn the white girl black to cโ€ฆ https://t.co/tJEndWRc4t

And, well, why exactly white people were even commenting about something that isn't their issue.

non blacks interacting with this tweet as if they don't do vocal and digital blackface everyday
