As anyone who’s not living under a rock has heard, Beyoncé’s latest visual album, Lemonade, addresses Jay Z’s alleged infidelity and calls out a “Becky with the good hair."
Many people believe fashion designer Rachel Roy to be said “Becky.”
This is mainly due to the fact that Roy posted an Instagram shortly after Lemonade dropped with the caption, "Good hair don’t care, but we will take good lighting, for selfies, or self truths, always. Live in the light #nodramaqueens.”
After her Instagram post, which she eventually deleted, Roy’s only other commentary came in the form of a tweet.
And today, she released an exclusive statement to People to put the “rumors and speculation to rest.”
“My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that," she said.
Referring to the song "Sorry," which features the "Becky" lyric, Roy said, "There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors."
Roy also addressed the haters, saying, "Consequently, online haters have targeted me and my daughters in a hurtful and scary manner, including physical threats. As a mother — and I know many mothers would agree — I feel that bullying in any form is harmful and unacceptable.”

"I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest. My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that. There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors. Consequently, online haters have targeted me and my daughters in a hurtful and scary manner, including physical threats. As a mother – and I know many mothers would agree – I feel that bullying in any form is harmful and unacceptable. I would hope that the media sees the real issue here – the issue of cyber bullying – and how it should not be tolerated by anyone."
