An established vacation spot for residents up and down the east coast, Myrtle Beach has something for everyone. If you're looking for a more upbeat beach day, start out in the mid-section of the oceanfront, where you can indulge in jetskiing or contemplate the ocean from an observation wheel that reaches exhilarating heights. When you want a break from the miles and miles of white seashore, you can go for a ride on Ripley's 5D moving theater. Just save the lobster tail feast for after the ride.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Located just a few hours outside of NYC, Ocean City is a beach paradise for overworked city folk. It's got miles and miles of sandy shores, old timey ice cream parlors, and plenty of Instagram-ready deserted rock formations. And sure, you could fill a day with mini golf, kayaking, or paddle boarding — but you could also just make like the locals and spend your afternoons lounging with a book in hand, as the white noise of crashing waves gently smothers all your stresses away.

Ocean City, New Jersey

Home to some of the most perfect waves on the west coast and an iconic sunset view that's worth the trip all on its own, Malibu is a destination that relaxes with its beauty. Pack a day with an outing to the Getty Villa then lunch at one of several earthy crunchy cafes that dot the area. If you're so ambitious, you can also get a workout in with a group surfing lesson. At the very least, you'll get a sweet tan and an appetite that only a taco feast could satisfy.

Malibu, California

Book a beachfront Airbnb and relax in front of one of this Mid-Atlantic destination's six beaches. Whether it's calm, lapping waters you're craving, or kayak trips through False Cape State Park, this stretch of waterfront has something for both your family and your hard-partying friends. Remember to end your trip with some oysters, and don't forget your "Virginia is for Lovers" souvenir shirt, AKA the only tacky tourist swag we stan now and forever.

Virginia Beach, Virginia

Some may call Newport a tourist trap, but it's hard not to be attracted to this old-fashioned Oregon Coast gem. Walk on the boardwalk and pop into a sweets shop or art gallery. When you're hungry, you can choose from any of the area's renowned seafood restaurants and pair your meal with a local brew. And when you've walked through the wax museum and tacky attractions, you can always sit and watch fishermen do their thing while you take in the salty sea air.

Newport, Oregon

Alabama's white-sand Gulf Shores beaches are likely one of the most underrated vacation destinations out there — but they're on the rise. Tthe fine, cream-colored sands make an afternoon stroll a therapy of its own. The area also boasts a restaurant scene made up of BBQ, American, and seafood grub that's good enough for a repeat crowd. And if you've got $12 to spare, you can take yourself on a dolphin cruise — where you'll get to swim with graceful aquatic life from the comfort of a cozy charter.
