18 Online Dating Red Flags That Are An Immediate “No”

"A red flag for me is zero to commitment in two conversations."

Recently, we asked the BuzzFeed Community to tell us what they consider their biggest online dating red flags. Here are some of their responses:

    1. "Asking/hinting at nudes. Absolutely not. Let's meet first and form a connection. It makes me think that all they want is some sort of sexual pleasure from me even when I make it very clear I'm not looking for that."

Jane Levy, Carly Chaikin in Suburgatory

    2. "When they can't even be bothered to answer any prompts to fill out their profile just a little bit, that's an automatic swipe and ignore from me."

"If you don't put any info out there aside from maybe one or two generic sentences (or even more annoying, 'ask me'), then the message you're sending to the world is that you're assuming that giving the bare minimum is enough to get what you want, and that you're most likely not willing to actually try. If you don't try on an app, you probably won't try in real life. Boy bye."

    3. "When they use their limited bio space to talk about how much they hate women."

Raven Ross in Love Is Blind

    4. "Snapchat, WhatsApp, Kik, etc. I can be a bit more free about my phone number as it's pre-paid and doesn't come up in searches. By all means, protect yourself! But typically, men want it primarily for dirty pics, to ghost easier, or even to hide their bullshit from a girlfriend or wife. No, thank you!"

Cecilie Fjellhoy in The Tinder Swindler

    6. "Complaining about being on dating apps. I sympathize as I don't like them either, but when it's on the profile, they're usually jaded enough that they have unreasonable expectations from you. 'Nobody wants to talk' means 'I want your attention at all times and will get mad if you put your phone down.'"

    7. "Only having one picture on their profile."

Nev Schulman and a woman posing in a photo in Catfish the movie

    9. "Big lists of what they *don't* want in a partner with no indication of (a) what they *do* want or (b) what they personally are like."
