    Put Down Your Sparklers

Everyone loves sparklers, everyone except your precious skin.

No matter how careless you've been with sparklers in the past, it's a good idea to stick to these tips this year to prevent injury, especially with children.

    1) Never light or hold more than one sparkler at a time

    2) You should stand, not sit, and never hold a child while using sparklers.

    3) Keep a safe distance, six feet or more, from other people when holding a sparkler.

    4) Do not throw sparklers or allow children to wave them around or run with sparklers in hand.

    5) Wear gloves and close toed shoes when lighting and holding sparklers.

    5) Keep a bucket of water accessible for spent sparklers. The wire and stick will be very hot after the flame is out, so be sure to submerge them to cool them off.

These tips can help keep you and your children safe during the upcoming holiday weekend. Fireworks are a fun and exciting aspect of our nation's birthday, but they are even more enjoyable when your loved ones are safe!
