6 Ways "Joey" Is Like Graduating From College

"RE: BuzzFeed APPLICATION" After "Friends" wrapped, the world was introduced to the spin-off "Joey". The disappointment the show caused is probably equivalent to the disappointment your parents will experience once you graduate and end up unemployed and living in their basement.

1. You're All Alone

In college, you're surrounded by friends who love you and professors who push you to do your best work. Post-graduation, you're forced out into the real world to face the reality that you're terrifyingly alone, much like Joey Tribbiani in "Joey".

After 10 seasons as one of six friends, he suddenly found himself friendless in Los Angeles. Sure he had his nephew and his sister, but no friendship can live up to that of Joey and Chandler.

2. Financial Reality

While in college, it can be easy to ignore all of the financial responsibilities you will encounter upon graduation. You convince yourself that once you've graduated, you'll get a nice job and become financially stable. In reality, you'll probably be making minimum wage while desperately trying to make payments on your student loans.

Going from a money-making machine like "Friends," to a money-pit like "Joey" probably felt similar, except they already had a lot of money, and you probably don't.

3. Outside of the Bubble, You're Nothing Special

Sure, when you're in college you think you're great. You got a B+ on your essay regarding race relations in Uruguay, for heaven's sake! Fast forward and you're working at your first big kid job. You hand that kind of sloppy work in to your new boss and you're put on probation.

Matt LeBlanc was a star on "Friends," but ask most people about the show "Joey" and they probably haven't heard of it or they hated it. There are the diehards, but we all have our biggest fans, don't we?

4. It's Filled With Disappointment

You're a college grad, the world is your oyster! There are limitless possibilities and many exciting milestones to look forward to! A new apartment! Making new friends! Landing a great new job! Dating people you don't go to school with! But the apartment is infested with roaches, your new friends are always asking to borrow money, you're working at a job you hate, and now you're not dating anyone from your college, because you're not dating anyone at all.

Life is filled with disappointment, and so are most spinoffs. "Joey" was no exception.

5. Your Dreams Will Eventually Fade and Die

Just like "Joey" was a bright beacon of hope for it's creators until it was cancelled after just two seasons, you too will eventually come to accept defeat. Need I say more?

6. Life Goes On

Sure you made a fool of yourself in front of that good-looking group of strangers at the bar. Your boss told you that you need to step up your game or you're going to be fired. And the love of your life just broke up with you. But if there's one positive thing we can take away from "Joey," it's that life goes on. Even if you make a two season mistake, someone will be willing to hire you and most of the world will forget the mess you helped create.
