    “Out of the ash I rise with my red hair And I eat men like air” -Sylvia Plath Lady Lazarus While this poem is about suicide (as are a lot of Plath's work) this line makes me feel like there is a redemption in getting through the hard side of depression. It makes me feel powerful…

    Eating the Cheshire Cat by Helen Ellis. I read it as a teen and it was the first book that really got into the neurosis of being a girl in a world that is not always kind.

    Dietland by Sarai Walker. It was one of the first books that made me want to pump my fist in the air for Womanhood. also Roxanne Gay's, Bad Feminist.

    I think this quote from the book sums it up. "The fundamental mistake I had always made—and that she had, in fairness, always led me to make—was this: Margo was not a miracle. She was not an adventure. She was not a fine and precious thing. She was a girl.”
