Which of these items is NOT compostable?

Plastic can never ever go in our compost stream. Individual plastic containers that are smaller than a shot glass (1.5 oz) are too small to be recycled, so they're just trash :(

They're made of a synthetic material. They didn't grow so they don't go!

Even though regular paper tea wrappers can be composted, these foily wrappers are neither compostable nor recyclable. Yogurt lids aren't compostable or recyclable either!

Waxed paper cannot be broken down in the compost stream.

Loose caps are too small to be recycled in a single stream recycling facility, but plastic tops can be reattached to empty plastic bottles!  
Only plastic \*containers\* can be recycled in Rhode Island, so no straws or wrappers.

Which of these items IS recyclable?

Napkins are made of paper but are too soft to be recycled.  
Plastic utensils aren't \*containers\* so they can't be recycled in RI.  
Yogurt lids are a mix of metal and other materials so they can't be recycled.  
Be sure to clean out plastic containers like yogurt cups as much as possible before recycling them or else they ruin the paper and cardboard in the load.

Very small plastic containers and paper cannot be sorted in single stream recycling centers.

Brown actually has to pay more for compost right now, but soon it should cost the same as trash and recycling!
