Apocalypse WOW

Yes, while some were wearing that thing called a Monokini or a beaded concoction my best foot was fashion timeless in a long sleeve ballet top.

In 2004 Digital Photography was a new thing

But that big 2.0 MP lens had an amazing filter if you knew where to place your thumb over the flash when it came time to take a selfie. Today you just flick a filter finish, kinda takes away the element of surprise.

Back when my life was free of any and all responsibilities 270 dollars wasn't rent, it was a round trip airfare to San Francisco to go watch movies and eat at Mission Burrito. But in those early days of the TSA when they didn't have the profiling down to a science I noticed that I'd be screened regularly. Well I fixed that. Trip Tip #12 Dress like you are a few crayons short, and you won't be seen as a threat. Who carries a beat up dirty stuffed animal with them? Not someone with malice in their heart.

In Japan when I went to bars, I went alone. If I wanted to drink for free, I'd let the prostitutes buy the drinks for me. I could do all the karaoke I wanted, and I knew which guys when for the Japanese bar girls and who not to get that close to, oh and yes in the corner those are oversized recording studio headphones. Beat That.

A Mid-Day in Paris

Yes, the inspiration for this post comes from looking at how Buzzfeed makes fun of Paris Hilton for HER style mistakes of 2004. YES she made many mistakes and missteps, thing is the majority of people follow trends or wanted to look like her at the time. When I was a kid I looked at yearbooks and made personal notes on how not to dress in trends. I hope those that made fun of me for being "strange" or laughed behind my back have children that look at their parent's books and ask "who's that girl?" The answer is someone that does NOT like what Madonna created.

If you tell a lie long enough

Can we just stop and admire the fact that even my Halloween Costume from 2004 is just what Urban Outfitters is trying to tell kids how to dress these days. One of the biggest mistakes I ever made in my life was giving that amazing hat to a drunk boy who spent four days begging me for it, and less than a bottle of tequila loosing it. Hater's Gonna Hate

Yeah, haters are gonna hate, but my American in Paris look is the one that is not a crime.

So ten years later

I can look back on my past without shame, and see myself today in a positive way. I've never ever followed trends.

If I want cake I eat cake

Because I'm awesome enough to write a Buzzfeed about myself. Ten years ago it would of been fantastic if people were listening to me, and not calling me "crazy" as Chappelle say's, "It's dismissive." It's micro, and macro. Look at the people in your life, and the one's who do things you may not understand yet admire. Keep those people around, be nice to them.

I've never set out to shock people

Just to make myself happy.

I wish there were more that had my sensibility

Honestly, I go out of my way to pay people compliments when I see matters in others that I admire. I love it when people wear sensible shoes, solid prints, tights with shorts, WIGS! Wigs are fun, or just anything that's different than the norm or whatever it is that everyone else is wearing. Timeless does not have to be boring. Make it your own. I like how I dress, always have, I know there have been people over the years that have thought the same. I'm 34 now, and I'm NOT gonna give up who I am to be seen as more "professional" or to fit in with anyone convention.

Some mornings I just have to drop my kid off at school

I'm not gonna put on makeup for that, especially IF I have the luxury of going back to bed.

I only know this life in passing

small and petty that's on you.

Again not trying to add to the Paris bashing, but just know why our fashion icons are who they are, especially when they make the mistakes they do. Will we ever learn?
