How To Not Get Lost At #ILLINOIS

Yeah, it's a big campus- but don't worry!

It's the beginning of your freshmen year at the University of Illinois, and you've made a wonderful decision.

Let’s not deny, though, that you’re a little worried about getting around the first couple of days.

Or nervous about looking like this:

It’s okay, we’ve all been there.

Shake it off. Just shake it off.

Thankfully, there is no reason you shouldn't be able to get to your first class on time!

    And here's why:

The bus system! As daunting as it may seem, it’s pretty simple.

Fun fact: CU-MTD's data also displays a lowercase "i" to denote iStops.

These are designated stops in the campus core for certain routes where it is not necessary to show an ID or pay a fare. Passengers can board at either door and go!

The routes that have iStops are the 1/100 Yellow/YELLOWhopper, 10 Gold/GOLDhopper, 12/120 Teal, 13/130 Silver, 21 Raven (new route!), and 22/220 Illini.

On a similar note, don’t just hop on a bus and assume it’ll get you where you need to go.

Unless you're okay with having an adventure.

People are usually nice -- ask for help!

    And don't be embarrassed, either.

(Sometimes even sophomores and juniors don't know where their classes are!)

Same goes for where to study

Ever wondered what's the best way to get across campus by foot?

(Because you need to know the quickest way across the Quad when you're arriving to class with a Lebron-esque entourage.)

Illinois' Wellness Center has identified some of the best walks on campus.

And even if you do get lost, just consider it an opportunity to get to know the campus better.
