I guarantee it.by maxh45c872b48Community ContributorFacebookPinterestTwitterMailLink pastemagazine.com / Via pastemagazine.com When asked to think up a perfect day, only one thing comes to mind. A day spent floating in a boat, sitting on a camp chair with your feet in the water, or standing beside a babbling brook catching fish is what I think of. Smooth and soothing cast after cast, it is hardly gets better. After skipping multiple days of school and work to head out to the water, I have found the key to reeling in fish after fish, and its country music. Country music and fishing go hand in hand. They are like Batman and Robin, Peanut Butter and Jelly, or Chandler and Joey. I know picking the perfect songs for this inseparable pair may seem daunting, but have no fear, because I have done all the work for you! If you haven’t had a great day on the water, you will now with this list of the top 8 country songs to play while fishing… you’ll be hooked! 8. Craig Cambpell Fish Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Craig Campbell- Fish Official music video / Via youtube.com The most about fishing, that isn’t really about fishing. Cleaver double meanings woven into suggestive lyrics make this song just perfect. Not to mention that it is right on board with Fishing League Worldwide saying that girls can fish. Whether you are hanging out, sippin’ beers with the boys, or are lucky enough to find yourself a girl that loves to fish, this song will propel your day onto the next level. “Fish” has a snazzy electric guitar presence that will have your foot tapping in your waders no matter how cold it is. With lyrics that are easy to remember and a chorus that you can’t help belt out, this song is essential for your night at the lake. 7. Livin’ Part of Life- Eric Church Do you dream of getting away for a while? Winning a prize vacation where you will be whisked away to a paradise you have been dreaming of years? Well it’s time to stop wishin’, and time to start livin’ a new part of your life. Well, all that is missin’ is a place for you to go fishin’. This Eric Church song, with stringy banjo in the back, points out how each day of fishing is really a paradise in itself. This is where Church and HubPages Sports agree on why fishin’ is good for your health. Both Church and HubPages agree that a day on the water is the best stress release. With a song this excited about being on the water, and having that gone fishin’ sign on your door, your smile will stretch even further across your face as you cast out your line again. Time to start livin’ that part of your life. 6. Knee Deep-Zac Brown Band Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Via Tru Country TV Youtube. I would love to spend a day knee deep in the water somewhere with the Zac Brown. Of course I have never met any member of the band, but after going through interviews with the band, I feel like I got to know them. In this True Country TV short clip from YouTube, you get to hear from Zac Brown in an uncensored interview (*language disclaimer*). With a group of guys that seem so cool, it is easy to believe they would go fishing with you. This smooth, catchy, song talks about having no problems except the tide reaching your chair (wouldn’t we all love that?). With a casual beat, and a present but not overwhelming guitar strumming along, this song is one way to find paradise on the water, and put the world away for a minute. Any fisherman would kill to accomplish those two things in a day, and now you can! 5. I’m Gonna Miss Her- Brad Paisley Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF I'm Gonna Miss Her Official Music Video With a deceiving title this slower song can’t help but bring a smile to your face. Like other songs on this list, “I’m Gonna Miss Her” directly references fishing, and like “Fish” it talks about girls. This girl doesn’t like to fish. Even worse she hates when her man fishes. This is a perfect example of how to handle the people that give you grief for spending a day on the water… you don’t need those people in your life. This song ranks number five on my list because it shows that sometimes a day to yourself fishing is more important than anything or anyone else. This dedication to fishing is why is impressive, and so is the melody in this song. At the end of the day, if she doesn’t love you fishing, does she really love you? 4. Bait a Hook- Justin Moore Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Bait A Hook Official Music Video / Via cbsnews.com You’re with him? He can’t even bait a hook. If you love fishing, it is sad to see other men fall short of one of the simplest tasks you can perform on your quest to catch dinner. CBS news shares an article that digs into why men love fishing. CBS explains how fishing fills men’s desire to hunt. Killing things to eat was one of man’s first instincts, and Justin Moore takes that to heart. This song is perfect to have on the water, because it is always nice to have a reminder of how awesome you are for knowing how to fish. Many men also find it reassuring that fishing makes them a more eligible bachelor. While pulling fish out of the water, and Justin Moore’s voice in the background, you really can’t have a bad day. 3. The Best Day - George Strait Pintrest / Via cbsnews.com Let the hate ring in, I put a song with no reference to fishing in the top three. It’s fine to be shocked that this song is so high on the list, but let me explain why it is a must have. “The Best Day,” is perfect for a day of relaxation and reflection on how great you have it to be out on the lake. “Dad, this could be, the best day of my life” sung in a smooth country, George Strait voice, will bring out beauty on the water that you didn’t see before. The same CBS news article shares about how many men bonded with their fathers on the water. This song embodies that completely, while never referencing directly. This George Strait single is so high up on my list because it embodies what fishing should really be about, getting to spend a day with somebody close to you. 2. Bad Day Fishin' - Billy Currington Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Youtube.com (Still beats a day at work).Sometimes nothing goes your way. Unlike every other song on this list, this fishermen’s day is far from perfect. Rain, a broken pole, not a fish caught, and using a sick day from work is not the recipe for a great day fishing. But hey, he still got to spend the day fishing. In a world where your day is judged by your Facebook post at the end of it, this day would seem just, well, bad. Billy Currington explains why that philosophy is wrong. He knows that it’s not about the fish you catch, it is the fun you have out there trying to catch them. With a nice melody, and catchy chorus, Billy Currington and his unique take on a day of fishing have found it almost at the top of the list. This song is a must have on the boat just in case you don’t catch all the fish you were planning on. Sometimes it’s just casting, and not catching, but thanks to Mr. Currington we know that is still a great way to spend the day. 1. Fishin' in the Dark - Nitty Gritty Dirt Band Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Craig Campbell Fish Official Music Video / Via j.gifs.com An absolute must have; this song embodies the great qualities of the songs that fell before it on my list. The banjo, beat, and melody make the song addicting before you even hear the lyrics. As the lyrics fill your ears with the sweet, sweet twang of the south, the fish jump in your boat. Upon a second listen, you realize that The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has just given you the formula for the perfect date. Craig Campbell this to heart when they made his fishing song. The final thing that this song does to perfection is that it makes it seem like nothing else matters when you are fishing. This is seen from Zac Brown Band and Eric Church as they attempted to top this fishing song. “Fishin’ in the Dark,” does everything, and it does everything well, making it the perfect song for fishing… Good luck getting it out of your head!
