10 More Beautiful, Classic, And Weird LP Label Designs

Led Zeppelin, Vanilla Fudge, Sam & Dave, Johnny and the Hurricanes: 10 beautiful LP label designs -- some classic, some less well-known. All awesome.

    1. Led Zeppelin, "Physical Graffiti" on Swan Song.

    2. Led Zeppelin II on the classic Atlantic (est. 1947) label.

    3. Vanilla Fudge on Atco, a subsidiary of Atlantic formed in 1955. The classic blue and tan label.

    4. Cream, "Fresh Cream" on the Atco pink and tan label. Yum.

    5. Johnny and the Hurricanes "Stormville" (1960) on the Warwick label, which was founded in 1959.

    6. Here's an obscure one: Europa Records, active from 1982-1984. They released a lot of great Canterbury-flavored prog. "Before a Word Is Said" is a particularly nice album.

    7. Inner City was an American jazz record label, founded in 1976. This album is Connie Criothers "Perception".

    8. The famous Milestone jazz label, founded in 1966 by Orrin Keepnews. This is a great Paul Bley album.

    9. Back to rock and roll. This is The Famous Charisma Label (est. 1969). Specifically, Hawkwind's underrated P.X.R.5 album from 1979.

    10. The classic Stax label (founded 1961). Sam & Dave "Hold On, I'm Comin'" (1966)

    11. BONUS: The LP sleeve for Sam & Dave's "Hold On, I'm Comin'". Dudes are riding a turtle.
