    Some lasted for years and some for only a few seasons, but they are all Australian classics if you were a kid growing up in the 80's in Australia.

    1. The Curiosity Show

    The Curiosity Show is an Australian educational children's television show produced from 1972 to 1990, and hosted by zoologist Rob Morrison and Dr Deane Hutton. The show was produced by Banksia Productions in South Australia for the Nine Network. 500 episodes were produced.

    Now You See It was an Australian children's game show that aired on the Seven Network from 1985-1993. It was hosted by Mike Meade and "co-hosted" by a robot named "Melvin" who was a Tomy Omnibot toy, and pitted individual children against each other. Melvin's uncle Morton (another Omnibot) had his own segment on the show entitled "Morton's Mouldy Movies", in which Morton would narrate stories in a grandfatherly voice accompanied by footage from silent film shorts.

    An Australian version of It's a Knockout ran on Network Ten from 1985 to 1987. The teams were divided into the Australian states: New South Wales (NSW), Victoria (VIC), Queensland (QLD) and South Australia (SA). The show was hosted by Billy J Smith along with Fiona MacDonald for the duration that it aired in Australia. They would arrive to the show in a golf buggy. The show was filmed in a field in Dural, New South Wales, however due to numerous complaints from local residents the show was dropped in 1987.[1]

    Mr. Squiggle was Australia's longest-running children's television series, and the name of the title character from that ABC show. The show has been presented on television in many formats, from five minute slots to a one-and-a-half hour variety show featuring other performers, and has had several name changes, originally airing as Mr. Squiggle and Friends. The program at its height, was one of the most popular children's programs and toured theatre and conventions, entertaining several generations who grew with the program.

    6. Hey Hey It's Saturday

    Hey Hey It's Saturday was a long-running variety television program on Australian television. It initially ran for 27 years (there was a recess in 1978), debuting on the Nine Network on 9 October 1971 and broadcasting its last episode on 20 November 1999. Its host throughout its entire run was Daryl Somers, who would later become executive producer of the program.

    Here's Humphrey is an Australian children's television series first aired on Monday 24 May 1965 on the Nine Network. It featured a character known as Humphrey B. Bear. In the early days Humphrey was known as Bear Bear and was named Humphrey B. Bear as the result of an on-air competition. Here's Humphrey has become one of the most successful programs for pre-schoolers in Australia.
