Barnaby the "poster boy" for the dangers of the Aussie sun.

Deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce showed up for his interview on ABC's Insiders on Sunday morning looking a little worse for wear.

Earlier in the week, Joyce told reporters that he didn't always wear a broad brimmed hat when he was growing up.

"They used to think it was uncool… so I just wore those small ones and of course they just didn't do the job," said Joyce.

"Big hats might look silly, but skin cancers look sillier."

And Joyce bringing attention to the issue received praise.
