Senior government minister Scott Morrison has slapped down talkback shock jock Ray Hadley who wanted him to ~literally~ swear on a bible in what has been one of the most insane talkback radio interviews ever.
Morrison walked into the interview with 2GB's Ray Hadley with an actual "hard hat" because he'd been warned of a grilling for apparently not doing enough to stop the knifing of Tony Abbott.
But things got weird when Hadley called on the devout Christian to swear on a bible that had been placed in the studio that he'd not marshaled the numbers behind Malcolm Turnbull.
"I'm not going to use my faith for a stunt, mate, for your program," said Morrison.
Morrison even looked for the bible and after searching, was fed up, turning on Hadley repeatedly calling him "mate" in one of the most Aussie displays of mateship in recent political history.
"We're mates mate and that steps over the line," he said.
"If that's what you need then we don't have the relationship that I thought we had."
Putting aside the bible flap, Morrison did reveal Tony Abbott was going to "throw Hockey under a bus" on the eve of the spill, offering him the job as treasurer for his support.
"(Abbott) offered me the job of Treasurer hours out from the ballot. He'd never done that before… I can't understand why I was being offered that job when he showed such strong support for Joe Hockey," he said.
"He was going to throw Joe Hockey under a bus."
He also denied he had "run dead" in Monday's leadership contest by refusing to direct his factional allies to support Tony Abbott, "I'm not Bill Shorten, mate. I'm not a union thug."
Hadley spoke to a 2GB journalist following the interview, confirming that a bible was indeed in the studio.
