The First Ever Aboriginal Woman In The Lower House Just Got Immediately Promoted

    The first Aboriginal woman elected to the House of Representatives, Linda Burney, has received immediate promotion to the Labor shadow ministry.

    The Wiradjuri woman, who is yet to be sworn in to parliament, will become part of Bill Shorten's expanded Labor leadership team, it was announced on Friday afternoon.

    Before winning the Sydney seat of Barton, Burney was deputy Labor leader in NSW and a former minister in several Labor governments.

    Bill Shorten also dumped controversial "faceless man" David Feeney in the reshuffle, who scraped into parliament after a disastrous election campaign.
