Australia Names First Ever Female Chief Justice Of The High Court

    Susan Kiefel, 62, will take on the role in January.

    Justice Susan Kiefel, who was appointed to the High Court in 2007, has been named Australia's next chief justice, becoming the first woman to take on the role.

    The prime minister also announced that 42-year-old James Edelman would be appointed to the High Court to fill the vacancy left by French.
