Pitting female pop stars against one another is, sadly, too often a reality in the world we live in. But Demi Lovato isn't having it.
When people on Twitter jumped to the conclusion that Lovato's reason for missing the VMAs had something to do with her peer Taylor Swift, she quickly shut down that nonsense.
The rumors started when she hinted there was a specific reason why she didn't attend this year's awards show.
Even though she didn't say what that reason was, Twitter filled up with conspiracy theories, including one that Swift's domination of the VMAs had something to do with it. To fully recap:

Of course, some fans of both artists couldn't sit quietly as their faves were thrown into a non-existent feud.
Demi Lovato did NOT shade Taylor Swift by saying "I skipped the VMA's for a reason." She was referring to a project she was working on and cited THAT + the fact she hates award shows. Stop making drama out of every little thing. #VMAs
Lovato eventually jumped in to set the record straight, even though she had no obligation to clarify anything.
As it turns out, the reason Lovato didn't go to the VMAs had less to do with anything personal than her work: She's been filming a guest role on the final season of Will & Grace.
Lovato is going to be in three episodes when the new season airs in 2020, according to Us Weekly.
