Here. Now. Then. There. You frame your entire reality around one location. Imagery plays a central roll in your work; You explore physicality, environment, describing, in detail, how the place looks, fells and what it meant to you or the people there. You want to find meaning in the place, telling stories that paint the place as a character in the action.

Place Writing

You "can't even;" either out of excitement, or frustration you want to talk about something -BADLY. You weave the exploration of this idea throughout all you do, the stories you tell, you set up a framework in order to convince your reader to see the world you do. For the most part, you're completely biased and you know it; that makes it more fun.

Critique

You're all about exploring ideas. You want to make sense of the world and do so through reflection. You will tackle problems head on, taking as many perspectives as possible in the search for answers. You see the world as beautiful, or beautifully sad and bring out the poetics in your prose while working to shed light on a specific idea.

Essay

You want to take one thing and focus in on it deeply; Explore the world around it, how it impacts the world and vice versa. Factual accuracy is central to your integrity. You talk to as many people as possible to get quotes and a wider view of issues at hand. You do all this while trying to tell as enjoyable a story as possible. The balance is something you are trying to work out.

Literary Journalism

You want to find an order in all things. To you, the perfect world would be indexed and ordered, in it's appropriate place. You love reading and writing, but enjoy dissecting the ways in which aspects of writing work on the reader even more.

Theory

You like to explore a specific period of your life, how recreating the past through your perspective then, with reflection from now. You write to find threads of constancy in the haze that is the past. Oftentimes you questions your memory, the definition of truth, your depiction of others - but you work to tell the story of your experience.

Memoir

You're a feisty up-and-comer looking to engage in non-fiction on your own terms. You are all about visual stimulus, using images to explore an idea or retell a situation. Scathing humor is highly appealing to you and works well for your quick whit.
