Bald head in the Torndirrup National Park

The Bald Head Walking Track in the Albany Region provides spectacular views of the striking coastal scenery of the Flinders Peninsula in the Torndirrup National Park near Albany, and provides walkers with a rewarding and breathtaking view of the coastline at the end of the track. The trail starts about one-hundred metres to the left of the car park in the Tondirrup National Park, at the Salmon Holes and winds over many miles of dunes until it reaches Bald Head.

Sand Patch

Start by following the path under the huge wind turbines. You will find a number of interpretive panels about the wind farm, as well as information about the six seasons of the Noongar calendar. There is an awesome viewing platform at the Sandpatch. The Bibbulum Track passes through the Wind Farm and you can take the path either left or right. The ocean and rugged coastline is always in sight and there are plenty of wild flowers and orchids to be seen during the different seasons.

Little Beach

Little Beach is the most picturesque perfect, magical beach in Western Australia. With a combination of white sand, azure water, granite headlands & greenery, it easily surpasses some of the famous beaches around the world. You can find Little Beach and Waterfall Beach beneath Mount Gardner on Two People's Bay Northern Headland.

Middleton Beach

Middleton Beach was named after Captain Middleton in 1934. Captain Middleton is an ancestor of Kate Middleton now married to Prince William and proud mother of Prince George. He brought Governor James Stirling to Western Australia. It is the main swimming beach for Albany and offers swimming and recreational beach activities. The waters are protected by King George Sound; the Southern Ocean's waves do not usually reach these sheltered waters.

Point Possessio Trail

The Quaranup / Point Possession Trail, a 6 km walk from Albany's old Quarantine Station to Point Possession. This is an easy 6km hike. Point Possession is a long, narrow isthmus with a beach on either side, leading to a low, rounded granite hill at the end. It's a scenic spot with Views of King George Sound, the shipping channel, Princess Royal Harbour and Albany Port.

Kalgan River bridge

The Luke Pen Walk trail, located along the Kalgan River in the Albany Region, is a beautiful meandering walk trail, closely following the River. It offers a lovely mix of vegetation from large marri trees and conifers to farming pastures. Gorgeous views are present all the way along the trail.

Bluff Knoll

BLUFF KNOLL & STIRLING RANGES

Bluff Knoll is a peak in the Stirling Range in the Albany Region. It is 1,099 metres above sea level and is one of only a few places to experience some snow in Western Australia

Climbing Bluff Knoll, a round trip of about 6 kilometres takes three to four hours, and can be achieved by anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. It is important to be well prepared for the trek, especially in the colder months as many people have been exposed to the cold weather during climbs.

Listed as one of Australia's 25 best hikes, Bluff Knoll provides an admirable and rewarding challenge for bushwalkers, rock climbers and abseilers of all levels.

Waychinicup

Waychinicup National Park is a 45 minute drive east of Albany, covers 5,310ha and is a vital safety haven for many threatened animal species such as Quenda, Ring tailed possums and one of the few mainland populations of Quokkas. The critically endangered Noisy Scrub-bird, which was once thought to be extinct, is found within the park. The Western Bristlebird is another vulnerable species that is found within the park.

Torndirrup National Park

Wildflowers
