Jasmine Guillory Writes The Cutest, Sweetest, Most Swoonworthy Romances, So I Ranked Them All In Case You're Wondering Which To Start With

This is my formal petition for these books to be adapted into a TV series. Netflix, are you reading this?

There is nothing better than reading a good ole rom-com.

When I'm looking for something that I know is going to be both swoonworthy and sweet, I always turn to Jasmine Guillory's romances.

It's hard not to love all of her characters: Their love stories are both realistic and adorable, and they all have jobs that are beyond cool (I'm talking bakery owners, the mayor's chief of staff, or ya know, being one of Hollywood's most beloved actors). I basically want to be best friends with all of them!

While her books are beyond fun to read, Guillory also makes a point of weaving in important conversations about topics like race, privilege, and consent.

As a bonus: Every single one of her books has the most mouth-watering food descriptions I've ever read. I'm talking pizza, cupcakes, wine — it's honestly hard to get through one of her novels without DoorDashing something delicious.

But the absolute coolest thing about Guillory's books is that while you can read them all as stand-alone novels, some of the characters you loved from previous books pop back up, so you can keep up with their love stories even after their book ends!

Since February hosts both Black History Month and Valentine's Day, I thought this was the perfect time to take on the difficult task of ranking all 6 of Jasmine Guillory's romances, in case you're feeling the love this month and want to pick a rom-com that'll give you allll the feels:

TBH, they're all amazing reads that I highly recommend, so you can't go wrong with any of 'em!

6. If you're the type of person who wakes up at the crack of dawn to watch the royal weddings, pick up Royal Holiday:

Royal Holiday is particularly perfect when you're in the mood for a holiday romance!

This novel takes readers on a holiday to remember across the pond, and reminds us that you're never too old to fall in love. Maddie is given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to style a member of the royal family for her Christmas plans, so she decides to bring along her mother, Vivian. Once the mother-daughter duo are nestled in their rooms on the palace grounds (I'm picturing something like the charming cottage from The Holiday), Vivian meets Marcus, the Queen's private secretary. The two become enamored with each other, but they're totally fine with ending their holiday romance when Vivian heads back to the US after New Year's Day, or are they?

Here's a fun fact for ya: Vivian is loosely inspired by Doria Ragland, aka Meghan Markle's mom!

5. If you want to start from the beginning, try The Wedding Date:

The one that started it all! Guillory's first novel launched her into the hearts of rom-com fans everywhere. 

I think one of my absolute worst fears would be getting trapped in an elevator with a complete stranger, but it somehow works out perfectly for Alexa and Drew. On the night before Drew's ex-girlfriend's wedding, he finds himself desperately looking for a date. A power outage stalls an elevator, leaving him stranded with Alexa. She reluctantly agrees to pose as Drew's fake girlfriend at the wedding. The pair have an unforgettable night, but they know it can't work between them: Drew is a pediatric surgeon based in Los Angeles, while Alexa is content in her role in the mayor's office in Berkeley, California. But they can't stop thinking about each other and begin to wonder what lengths they'll have to go through to get their happily ever after.

4. If sports are your thing, read The Proposal:

This one is so good that even Reese Witherspoon is obsessed! She chose it for her book club, which is a huge deal.

Sports fans will be particularly into this one, which has the best meet-cute at a baseball game. When Nikole's actor boyfriend (who she's not all that into, BTW) takes her to a Dodgers game, the last thing she's expecting is a proposal, let alone one on the Jumbotron with her reaction plastered in front of thousands of cheering fans. Carlos senses the tension and swoops in to save Nikole from a camera crew after she turns down the proposal. When videos of the proposal-gone-wrong go viral, Carlos is there for Nikole, and the pair strike up Nikole's epic rebound with a strict set of rules: It can't get serious between them.

3. If you are secretly in love with your sworn enemy, pick up The Wedding Party:

This was my first book written by Guillory, and it will forever live in the top half of my Official Jasmine Guillory Ranking because it cemented her as an auto-read author for me.

Maddie and Theo can't stand each other. It would be easy to just avoid crossing paths, except that they both consider Alexa (from The Wedding Date!) their best friend. When the pair have an "Oops, we hooked up!" moment, they can't stop thinking about each other. The issue? They can't keep avoiding each other, because they're both members of Alexa's wedding party. They agree to secretly continue their fling until the wedding, but as the big day approaches, they realize that maybe they don't really hate each other after all.

2. If you're glued to celeb gossip, read While We Were Dating:

Guillory just keeps getting better and better with every new release, and it was honestly hard to choose which of her novels would nab the top spot. 

Ben, an ad exec, isn't one for serious relationships. When he lands a huge ad deal featuring Anna Gardiner, an actor on the cusp of becoming a household name, he finds it hard to stay professional in front of such a major celeb. After all, Anna is as down-to-earth and fun to be around as she is stunning. Luckily for Ben, Anna can't help but feel the same way. When Ben comes to Anna's rescue in a family emergency, their lighthearted banter takes a turn, and what once was a fun fling turns serious.  But when they're given the chance to take their romance onto the red carpet, Ben must take a backseat to Anna's public persona, which could be make-or-break for their budding romance. 

1. If you've ever wondered what it's like to date a politician, try Party of Two:

Party of Two is pure perfection: It tackles politics, interracial relationships, and being suddenly thrust into the spotlight without sacrificing any of Guillory's trademark swoonworthiness!

Olivia moves to Los Angeles to start her own law firm, something she's dreamed of for years. When she meets Max at a hotel bar, there are instant sparks, until she discovers that Max from the hotel is actually Max Powell, the junior senator everyone has been swooning over. She has zero interest in dating a politician, but Max is determined to woo her. Olivia is surprised by how kind and genuine Max is, and their relationship turns serious, even though they have to keep their connection away from prying eyes. When they decide to go public, the media begins to dig into Olivia's past, and suddenly what seemed like a fairy tale romance might actually be a nightmare. 

Her newest title, By the Book, which is a romance that reads like a modern-day Beauty and the Beast, comes out in May.
