Outfits Inspired By Mickey From Netflix's Original Series "Love"

When my boyfriend and I spent a week binge-watching Netflix's new original series Love, the entire time I could not get over how insanely cool Mickey's outfits were. My favorite part about her style is that they are a bit unconventional-- you wouldn't typically think, "wow, a flannel, bathing suit, and adidas slip ons are so chic," but somehow, she makes it work. So. Well. And if she can make camo and stripes look cute, maybe I should try it out, too. So here's a little style inspo for when you're getting bored of the typical jeans + plain t-shirt monotony.

This definitely has a "I don't give a shit about anything today" vibe. A combination of retro (the halter bodysuit and high-waisted jeans) and grunge (oversized flannel). A look that gives off an effortlessly hip, and I-know-I'm-cute-and-I-didn't-even-try, energy. Perfect for running errands, lounging around the house, or harassing your local 7-11 cashier to let you pay him back for coffee later because you forgot your wallet.

Professional with a hint of edginess. I'm not a big fan of polka dots, but I like that her shit is not a *classic* polka dot pattern. The buckled ankle boots take this outfit from preppy to cool. Definitely a fun work outfit if your job doesn't require you wear 3 inch heels.

A gorgeous tribute to the '70s. I always told myself I'd never be into fashion from that era, yet here I am. This outfit actually inspired me to go out and buy a camo jacket of my own. Who knew camo could actually be cute and stylish??? (Not me.) The mixed patterns in this look give me life. There's nothing I like more than making something that is kind of a fashion no-no look cute.

Overalls are so in right now and it's the best thing ever. I'm loving the color of these dungarees even more than the classic denim or black look. A perfect look for color-coding your bookshelf or rearranging your living room furniture out of boredom. But also a perfect look for every day of the week. I'd wear this outfit till I die if I knew I wouldn't get weird looks for outfit repeating like a cartoon character.

I am amazed at how much this look actually works. Never would I ever think to wear a buttoned-up sleeveless vest under a varsity jacket. What. This is totally creative and brings a sporty, vintage-y flair to the table, an ideal look for someone who loves to stray from the norm.

And lastly, the date night look. Gorgeously simple and girly. So effortless. I love the slip-dress trend. Great for a night out or whenever you're in the mood to dress it up! Mickey doesn't seem to be very into glitzy fashion, but everyone needs a little glitter in the wardrobe... actually I hate generalizations like that, but still. This look is a yes.

The best thing about these outfits is how diverse they are. She is all over the map. Each look is unique and eccentric, but in a subtle way that makes them look effortlessly hip. Fashion is such a great way to express yourself. These looks have inspired me to try out some new things, combine a few pieces I wouldn't typically pair together, and shop with my personality in mind, rather than trying to fit in with the black-is-the-only-color-I-wear trend.
